In-use Test:
The Dart DS from Vango is certainly easy to pitch - in fact it almost seems to pitch itself. Despite its simplicity, the accommodation provided by this little neat tent is really quite impressive.
There is room (just) for two people - comfort is helped by the fact that this DS version of the Dart has a small covered porch area at its single door where you can stow most of your luggage and/or wet walking kit. There are also 5 stowage pockets around the inside for bits and pieces you need in close proximity plus a hook for a lamp. Comfort is also helped by the fact that there's certainly enough room (for a 5'10' male) to sit-up.
I've tried out the Treetops (green) version and the inside has a nicely calming feel to it. There are also two front windows (with covers for night) which add to the generally light feel inside.
There is a built-in groundsheet to keep out dampness (and creepy crawlies), four ventilation points (3 plus the door) all of which have insect protection.
I've tried it out so far with just one person sleeping in it on a reasonably mild Spring night and found that there was not any problem with condensation.
It's rated at 3000 HH for water-proofness which in theory should be more than adequate for most Spring/Summer/early Autumn rain conditions in Europe. So far I've only tried it in light rain when it was fine.
Oh yes - packing it up - after some initial confusion, the instructions that came with it made sense and it goes easily back into its carrying case. This comes with handles plus shoulder straps which make carrying it around really easy - albeit at the the risk of looking like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle . . .
Vango's Dart DS 200 is really easy to use little tent. Great if you're new to camping and/or for an impromptu trip with a car ... and yes no doubt ideal for festivals too.
