Climbing Sca Fell via Lord
Q. Has anyone information about the Lord's Rake route to Sca Fell? I believe that it is unsafe even for experienced walkers especially if in a group because of loose rock. I have heard that the Foxes Tarn route also has problems. We plan to climb Sca Fell in May.

A. You are right to be concerned. Lord's Rake is a narrow, steep corridor of rock situated on the West Wall Traverse near Mickledore (the col between Sca Fell and Scafell Pike) up on to Sca Fell itself. In 2004 there was a significant rock fall and the area remains highly unstable. It should be avoided by everyone, regardless of experience and group size.
