The poet Gerard Manley Hopkins stayed at Inversnaid and wrote the following lines: "What would the world be, once bereftOf wet and wildness? Let them be leftOh let them be left, wildness and wet Long live the weeds and wilderness yet."
Arklet Falls lie just to the south of Inversnaid Hotel.

Part of this walk follows a section of The West Highland Way, a 153km (95 miles) linear footpath connecting Milngavie in East Dumbartonshire, Scotland with Fort William in Highland, Scotland.
