I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Warminster, Wiltshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live in Warminster, Wiltshire. I am looking for both male and female walking companions. I am now retired which gives me free time during the week as well as weekends.

I am very happy to walk locally but also really wish to explore new areas. I have walked some sections of the South West Coast Path and West Wales Coast Path and would love to walk more.

I am not a hardened walker but enjoy walks from 5 to 12 miles and occasionally longer weekend/few days walking. To finish off occasionally with a pub meal is an attractive thought. I love the outdoors and really appreciate the countryside and scenery on route.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:5:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
Wales; The Heart of England; South West England;

A bit more about me:

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Road Cycling

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my late 70s, based near Matlock hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, a vegetarian, single, retired, a co-operative rather than competitive person. Have walked solo for many years but do enjoy walking with a female companion/s to explore our beautiful island. I had a camper van for 12 years but in 2024 changed to a Eriba caravan to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Dales Way, Pennine Way, Wainwrights Coast to Coast, Cleveland Way, West Highland Way etc. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. Am passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include nature walks, conservation and engaged with local community activities. Am a long term of NT, WWF, RSPB, WildlifeTrust, Protect The Wild etc conservation groups. On the political front am a long term member of CND, supporter of Amnesty International, a Green Party member and in recent times a Corbynista. I enjoy reading natural history, biographies and have a eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stoke-on-trent hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live on the edge of the Peak District and love the outdoors. I have walked all my life in most areas of the UK as well as internationally. I like trying new routes but I am also happy on old favourites watching them change with the seasons.

I am looking for people who don't take life too seriously, like a bit of adventure and enjoy exploring new areas. I took early retirement so can walk anytime. My ideal day out is a 5 to 15 mile walk including a coffee or other such beverage, a good chat and learning something new, from the history of the area to a new plant or bird call.

Many of my walks are currently in the Peak District but I will jump at the chance to travel to other areas. Recently I have also walked in Trossachs, North Downs and Snowdonia. I love being in the mountains but I am as happy viewing them from a longer walk through the valleys as climbing to the top.

I am a Walker, in my mid 70s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on mountains, hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there and around me, not to race to the end. What would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments or a meal. I'm just into my 70's but am very fit and am younger in appearance and character. I can get along with most people of all ages. I am vegan but whilst it would be lovely to meet a vegan or veggie, it isn't a prerequisite. I generally like to walk between 5-15 miles I'm very chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. I drive and don't see anywhere on the mainland as too far. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city and country breaks and the theatre to mention a few but always happy to try something new. Regards. Chris

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Hertfordshire hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I'm hoping to meet a like-minded male friend to walk, talk and share a love and appreciation of the outdoors. I've friends that I already walk with but mostly they are fair-weather amblers who, much as I love them, really don't notice or know anything about nature….not expecting Chris Packham but just someone who has a bit of curiosity and passion about the subject!

I do my day to day walking around Herts/Bucks/Beds but it would be good to have a companion for visiting pretty well anywhere in the UK. I'm not really interested in walking abroad at the moment as I have a dog who walks with me and also there are too many parts of the UK that I still want to visit…..

I've walked mostly in Herts, Bucks, Dorset, along Norfolk coast, in Lake District, North Yorkshire, parts of Highlands. My doggie and I did Ben Nevis 6 years ago but I'd not expect her to do that now, so peak-bagging is not my thing.

I have a good level of fitness and endurance for walking and would happily walk for several hours and in most weathers - having a dog I'm out 365 days and cooler temperatures often work best for us anyhow.

Stuff that interests me: UK wildlife (am a member of the RSPB), the Arctic, planets and constellations, Northern Lights, politics (I'm bit lefty), current affairs, art, bioscience

Stuff I dislike: pseudo-science, beige food, small-talk

What else? I'm an introvert, I love one to one interaction and am very talkative with the right person, where we share interests and values; big groups are not my thing at all. I read a lot, listen to music a lot, love the radio. I eat mostly a Mediterranean diet. I don't watch much tv but when I do it's probably a Scandi Noir (nothing has ever beaten The Bridge).

I have recently retired from paid employment so can walk anytime I choose, however I do have voluntary charity commitments, but can work around these.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near London hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live in London, but have done lots of long distance path walking,including the SW coastal path and the Cumbria Way and a fair bit of mountain walking in Scotland: Arran, the Cairngorms, Mull, Assynt... I would love to explore more countryside, mostly the northern half of the country and Ireland, which I'm sorry to say I've never been to!

I was a bike commuter for many years which has given me a good level of fitness and I still love cycling in the city, preferring to mostly keep to quiet routes.

Don't be put off by the fact that I live in London! I can travel!!
And of course there are some lovely walks in and around London.

My Message: Hello, I am looking for male/female walking friends. As I work all week it would mainly be for weekend walking, whether a day walk or an weekend away. If you are local to me then happy to do some evening walks in the week.

I would say I have a good level of fitness, map skills get me by (most of the time!).

I am happy on most terrains in any weather and any area at a pace to enjoy the surroundings. I like doing trails, either as a linear walk or doing in sections and making a circular walk.

In an ideal world it would be good to meet some walk mates to plan some trips for in the UK or overseas(open to ideas).

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Mid Devon hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people to walk with mainly on Exmoor and Dartmoor but I would also be keen to visit other areas. I have done over 80 Munros including all of the ones on The Cullin but haven't been that way for a while and am a bit less fit now! I enjoy relaxed company (not a route march) to take in the surroundings with interesting happy people. I don't take myself too seriously and am up for new experiences and challenges. It is good to stop off at the odd pub however tea rooms seem to appeal more now as alcohol gives me migraines ☹️ however tea rooms tend not to have roaring fires so I struggle to decide!

I have two very friendly but bouncy dogs who I walk with but conversation is very limited! I struggle to find folk who want to go for long rambles over the moor but I just love being up there.

I am work part time so am often available weekdays and weekends.

Please get in touch if you want relaxed, friendly company for a walk but please do remember that I have got two very enthusiastic dogs so it would be better if you are a dog lover!

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Cardiff/swansea hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, thanks for dropping by.

Looking for some upbeat walking buddies to share great walks, beautiful views and hopefully a few laughs along the way.

I walk in all weathers and have an impressive range of muddy footwear. I walk 5 miles daily with my dog and enjoy a weekly 10 miler when I have company. I can manage longer distances, but prefer to stick to 12 miles max so I am able to walk unaided down the stairs the following day ;).

I've recently semi retired so free Thursdays to Sundays! I'm dipping my toes into camping again after a long while and loving it.

If you're in or around S Wales, let's get out there. I hope to walk with you very soon!

My Message: Hi, I am looking for pleasant, easy going male or female walking friends preferably located in The Midlands, but not limited to this area as I'm more than willing to travel for an adventurous day out. Someone who loves the outdoors and likes to have a gentle chat, someone who can listen as well as talk, who has a good sense of humour and who isn't averse to a bit of adventure. I love to take advantage of the lighter evenings in the Spring and Summer to walk locally (within a 20ish miles radius) during the week. I work a couple of days a week, but can fit in daytime walks on other weekdays and at weekends. Happy to discuss any possibilities. It would be great to hear from you. I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.

The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.

I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.

I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.

My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.

I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).

My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.

If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Walker, in my late 60s, based near Pickering hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, Average walker looking for company to enjoy scenery and a natter and possibly tea and cake. I can walk around 6-7 miles no problem and have done up to 10 on a good day.I have walked quite a lot in the Dales and the lakes in the past and on the Wolds. I like to enjoy the scenery, take photos etc and a walk with a pub or tea shop at the end is always better! Im looking for male or female walking companions, initially to walk fairly locally but hopefully maybe have weekends away later. I have my own transport, Im quite chatty and enjoy a good laugh, I don't have any objection to dog owners. I will reply to all messages. Hope to meet new friends soon. I currently work 4 days a week so am not free every day.

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Nantwich hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi everyone. My name is Andrew and I am 58 years old and live in Nantwich. I have been interested in walking since I was able to walk. I have done a few challenges in my life like walking across Scotland in a week from East to West, completed the Welsh 3000s in one day, walked around the Lake District. I am not afraid of going up the hills or down in the valley, its going for a walk in the great outdoors. I would be interested in joining up with someone to enjoy the walks and if the dogs come too then that is a bonus.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; Wales; The Heart of England; South West England;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in most weathers but do not like snow and ice. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I have enjoyed hill walking since my childhood - alongwith a sense of freedom, space and challenge it helps me refuel my inner strength to deal with anything during the working week.

I moved up to Bishop Auckland in 2010 for work and to be nearer the hills. I walked the Pennine Way in 1986 and always enjoy revisiting bits of it. More recently I've completed the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way,C2C,Offa's Dyke Path & Isaac's Tea Trail and hoped to complete Hadrian's Wall Path 2020 but didn't!!. In June 2021 I completed Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in 11.5hrs for Alzheimer's Society with my brother but I continue to enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland with a fantastic local fell walking club (which I help run) and am free many weekends and during the school holiday times.I am soon to retire and look forward to more walking in good company.

My interests are all things musical and 20th Century painting. Looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2024!! Andy

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Chesterfield hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I'm Mark I enjoy walking and discovering places. I occasionally lead walks for my friends or just enjoy a walk on my own. Most walks end up with a pint or a meal. I'm looking to meet someone who enjoys the scenery and wildlife and enjoys a occasional challenge. I'm currently trying to do all the peaks in the Yorkshire Dales over 2000ft and get a few Wainwrights done but not in any great rush.I also do a bit of mountain biking now and then (no mad off road down hill routes). Look forward to hearing from anyone with similar interests.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Coleshill hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I used to be keen long distance walker, I've walked some of the national trails including the Pennine way and half the south west coast path.... I was out every weekend and most of my holidays. However due to a failed relationship (she said she liked walking but it turned out only to the shops and back!!) I haven't really been walking for 3 years.... I'm looking to get back into walking and would like to find someone who's interested in day walks of 10 to 15 miles with a little drink and a comfy fire at the end of it. maybe, over time, linking the individual walks into long trails.... A great person once said the longest journey begins with a single step

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishops Waltham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there

I'm a relaxed, friendly and positive person who enjoys meeting new people.

I like spending whole days walking and would love to meet someone who could join me. I also like half day walks too! I'd particularly like to do long distance paths either over a series of weekends or for a few days.

I'm fit and active with a love of nature so walking is more about the beauty around me than ticking off a bucket list, or marking up achievements. Nothing wrong with those but they're not what motivates me.

I also love a good conversation and whilst I happily go for solo walks it's nice to share the experience with a friend or two so I hope to meet some friends on here!

I've specified the southern half of the country, not because I don't want to walk further afield but I'm being practical about what I can fit in during a normal working week. I work full time but have weekends, summer evenings (if you're not far away) and generally work a 9 day fortnight so I get a couple of extra days a month. I also have holidays and because I live alone and don't have children I can be flexible.

I'm not confident with dogs but if you have a well-behaved small or medium-sized dog I'll probably be ok with it.

I'd also be up for trips to other parts of the UK and abroad.

That's probably enough for now please do get in touch if you'd like to. I hope to hear from someone!

Thanks.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am now retired so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I can sometimes make plans at short notice. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

I am looking for people who love walking and are looking for someone to join them. I would like to meet someone who is also interested in walking some of the long distance paths across the country. Sometimes we need a bit of motivation and encouragement and it is always better to have some company and support. Distance and speed are not that important. I equally enjoy local half day walks in the south of England to all day challenges in the mountains. But, it's always nice to end up in a country pub at the end of the day.

I am a reasonable map reader and whilst generally cautious by nature, I am fairly confident in the mountains. I have a car so can travel as necessary. I like to chat about about most things and it would be a bonus if you had a good sense of humour too.

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Lowestoft hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello all,

It's been well over two years since I've been on here so this is seriously overdue an update.

I'm originally from Essex but currently reside in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Before this I had spent 5 years in Australia as an expedition leader and outdoor instructor.

Since my first posting on the message board I have summited Mount Olympus, Ben Nevis and Snowdon (still need Scarfell)
I have also bagged a couple of the lesser peaks in Wales.

Currently, I'm really enjoying wild camping. I have been doing some multi-day hikes here and just this summer found some cool little spots around Europe.

my biggest achievement to date is back in 2022 I managed to complete the 'West Highland Way' and 'Great Glen Way' back to back.

Apart from the great outdoors I love music (the soundtracks to our lives!), enjoy most sports but also like more mundane pursuits (reading, games, tinkering and crafts)

I'm still walking mostly on my own. As much as the solitude is sometimes nice, I would much appreciate some company, banter and motivation.

Happy hiking everyone

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Machynlleth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Now retired but still walking. I live in mid Wales just off the coast. Surrounded by hills, big and small. Planning to walk part of the Welsh coastal path for two weeks next April. Have done a lot of different walks in many countries. Don't mind where or when,rain or shine. If I can get there, I'm up for it. I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Amersham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK.

If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you.

I've also become a mountain biker after getting a bike to access more remote hills but the bike's taken over a bit, and I'm trying to return to walking more. I've even tried a bit of bikepacking with tent etc (and even skis) to make it an adventure, but not wholly sold on that idea!

The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway.

I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today. After an injury or two in 2022 I'm taking things little more leisurely but still like a good day's fresh air in most weathers.

I used to work right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station.

But I made the move (end 2015) to working from home - or not - in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. So if you fancy meeting for a walk or a muddy ride, let me know.

Oh, and my name is Robert.

I am a Walker, in my late 60s, based near Bath hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am in my late 60's and live on the edge of Bath close to the Cotswold Way. I used to walk with my wife but she passed away in late 2020 and since then I have either walked with a group or alone, but group walking is not my preferred option as I like to be able to stop and take in the views when appropriate and this is not so easy when in a group.
If a walk can be combined with a pub or cafe visit part way through or at the end all the better.
I usually walk around 8 or 9 miles but can easily do up to 12 or more. Equally I am happy on shorter walks of 5 or 6 miles. I have completed over 75% of the SW Coast Path and I would be interested in other long distance paths such as the coast to coast.
My general interests centre around sport, heritage and outdoor life. I volunteer at a local city farm and do footpath improvement work in my local area. I have a disabled daughter and am / have been involved with associated charity and campaign groups.
Being retired I can usually be available to walk most days subject to my volunteering roles.
I have walked a lot around the Mendips and South Cotswolds but have also spent a fair amount of time on the Quantocks, Exmoor, Dorset coast and East Devon areas.
I have recently bought a campervan and this year have generally done shorter trips around the south and west but plan to venture further afield in the coming year.
I would like to find a similar minded person to join me on walks both in my local area and further afield.
