I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Coleshill hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I used to be keen long distance walker, I've walked some of the national trails including the Pennine way and half the south west coast path.... I was out every weekend and most of my holidays. However due to a failed relationship (she said she liked walking but it turned out only to the shops and back!!) I haven't really been walking for 3 years.... I'm looking to get back into walking and would like to find someone who's interested in day walks of 10 to 15 miles with a little drink and a comfy fire at the end of it. maybe, over time, linking the individual walks into long trails.... A great person once said the longest journey begins with a single step

A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Salford hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi everyone I'm here to find some walking / hiking friends for the occasional weekend when I'm usually out and about alone.
I would say I could do most of the strenuous challenging walks I'm fit enough for a challenge.
I've currently been walking around Gwydir forest area it's nice out there I've set my goal to do all the walking routes around that area before moving to a new place but I'm open to join someone else's adventure.
When im not out walking you will find me biking or paddle boarding around.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishops Waltham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there

I'm a relaxed, friendly and positive person who enjoys meeting new people.

I like spending whole days walking and would love to meet someone who could join me. I also like half day walks too! I'd particularly like to do long distance paths either over a series of weekends or for a few days.

I'm fit and active with a love of nature so walking is more about the beauty around me than ticking off a bucket list, or marking up achievements. Nothing wrong with those but they're not what motivates me.

I also love a good conversation and whilst I happily go for solo walks it's nice to share the experience with a friend or two so I hope to meet some friends on here!

I've specified the southern half of the country, not because I don't want to walk further afield but I'm being practical about what I can fit in during a normal working week. I work full time but have weekends, summer evenings (if you're not far away) and generally work a 9 day fortnight so I get a couple of extra days a month. I also have holidays and because I live alone and don't have children I can be flexible.

I'm not confident with dogs but if you have a well-behaved small or medium-sized dog I'll probably be ok with it.

I'd also be up for trips to other parts of the UK and abroad.

That's probably enough for now please do get in touch if you'd like to. I hope to hear from someone!

Thanks.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am now retired so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I can sometimes make plans at short notice. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

I am looking for people who love walking and are looking for someone to join them. I would like to meet someone who is also interested in walking some of the long distance paths across the country. Sometimes we need a bit of motivation and encouragement and it is always better to have some company and support. Distance and speed are not that important. I equally enjoy local half day walks in the south of England to all day challenges in the mountains. But, it's always nice to end up in a country pub at the end of the day.

I am a reasonable map reader and whilst generally cautious by nature, I am fairly confident in the mountains. I have a car so can travel as necessary. I like to chat about about most things and it would be a bonus if you had a good sense of humour too.

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Lowestoft hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello all,

It's been well over two years since I've been on here so this is seriously overdue an update.

I'm originally from Essex but currently reside in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Before this I had spent 5 years in Australia as an expedition leader and outdoor instructor.

Since my first posting on the message board I have summited Mount Olympus, Ben Nevis and Snowdon (still need Scarfell)
I have also bagged a couple of the lesser peaks in Wales.

Currently, I'm really enjoying wild camping. I have been doing some multi-day hikes here and just this summer found some cool little spots around Europe.

my biggest achievement to date is back in 2022 I managed to complete the 'West Highland Way' and 'Great Glen Way' back to back.

Apart from the great outdoors I love music (the soundtracks to our lives!), enjoy most sports but also like more mundane pursuits (reading, games, tinkering and crafts)

I'm still walking mostly on my own. As much as the solitude is sometimes nice, I would much appreciate some company, banter and motivation.

Happy hiking everyone

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Machynlleth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Now retired but still walking. I live in mid Wales just off the coast. Surrounded by hills, big and small. Planning to walk part of the Welsh coastal path for two weeks next April. Have done a lot of different walks in many countries. Don't mind where or when,rain or shine. If I can get there, I'm up for it. Getting a bit bored of talking to myself so a walking partner now and then would be nice.

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Amersham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK.

If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you.

I've also become a mountain biker after getting a bike to access more remote hills but the bike's taken over a bit, and I'm trying to return to walking more. I've even tried a bit of bikepacking with tent etc (and even skis) to make it an adventure, but not wholly sold on that idea!

The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway.

I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today. After an injury or two in 2022 I'm taking things little more leisurely but still like a good day's fresh air in most weathers.

I used to work right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station.

But I made the move (end 2015) to working from home - or not - in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors. So if you fancy meeting for a walk or a muddy ride, let me know.

Oh, and my name is Robert.

I am a Walker, in my late 60s, based near Bath hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am in my late 60's and live on the edge of Bath close to the Cotswold Way. I used to walk with my wife but she passed away in late 2020 and since then I have either walked with a group or alone, but group walking is not my preferred option as I like to be able to stop and take in the views when appropriate and this is not so easy when in a group.
If a walk can be combined with a pub or cafe visit part way through or at the end all the better.
I usually walk around 8 or 9 miles but can easily do up to 12 or more. Equally I am happy on shorter walks of 5 or 6 miles. I have completed over 75% of the SW Coast Path and I would be interested in other long distance paths such as the coast to coast.
My general interests centre around sport, heritage and outdoor life. I volunteer at a local city farm and do footpath improvement work in my local area. I have a disabled daughter and am / have been involved with associated charity and campaign groups.
Being retired I can usually be available to walk most days subject to my volunteering roles.
I have walked a lot around the Mendips and South Cotswolds but have also spent a fair amount of time on the Quantocks, Exmoor, Dorset coast and East Devon areas.
I have recently bought a campervan and this year have generally done shorter trips around the south and west but plan to venture further afield in the coming year.
I would like to find a similar minded person to join me on walks both in my local area and further afield.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Southport hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I would love to connect with new friends who share my passion for mountains and the great outdoors. First and foremost I'm looking for walking buddies - someone for engaging conversations who appreciates magnificent landscapes (and to share a post hike pint). If I find a mutual connection with someone - and they with me - I'm not averse to something closer developing.

I'm lucky to live where I do in the North West, in easy driving distance of The Lakes, Snowdonia, The Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales. When I get the chance I find great walks in all.

I generally either walk solo these days, usually looking for hikes with variety - a collection of peaks, some scrambles etc. - or I walk with my 5 year old daughter who has enthusiastically embraced hiking as a mini 'mountaineer'. Together we've now found 6 'magic stones' (aka 'trig points') including Snowdon and Scafell Pike.

I would love adult companions to plan more challenging walks as well though - and if I got to know someone well I would be interested in doing something more adventurous like a camping and hiking expedition in the Scottish Highlands perhaps.

I'm pretty fit and capable for my age - I'm not exactly running marathons, but I am active and in decent-ish shape.

I do have a relatively busy and demanding life trying to balance family commitments (I am romantically single, but co-parent two small children and a teenager) a full-time job (I'm a policy professional working with forestry) and theatre (my other big hobby - I act and direct for local societies). That can mean walking time is limited - but with forward planning, I do manage to get my boots on every couple of months or so.

If you fancy going for a decent ramble, discussing the wonders of nature, setting the world to rights - or just having a nice chat with someone new, I'd love to hear from you.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Crosby hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I love walking and being outdoors in all weather. I'm in some walking clubs but these have been suspended at present. The last walk I did with a club was Snowdon and I usually do the A walks which are graded the most difficult. Over the summer I've been walking and cycling (not mountain biking) in France including the Pyrenees. Nevertheless I feel that I will need to build up my fitness again with walking and I'm currently in quarantine.
I want to work up Wainright's coast to coast, hopefully before Christmas. I'm freelance so have some flexibility to walk midweek as well as weekends.
I'm also interested in meeting someone to do local walks with, in between the big walks! I'm looking for walking friends, not for a relationship. I have a couple of friends who enjoy walking but get sick of waiting for people to be available! I'm not good at map reading or using a compass but have just bought a compass and definitely want to improve my navigational skills. Hope to hear from you either locally or to meet at arranged walks 😃

My Message: Hello to everyone. In my mid 60s, I am inclined to sit on a comfortable rock and watch the world go by. During a walk on a nice day. I do walk all year round and enjoy the changing seasons. I backpacked round the world with a mate just a few years ago and would like to do it again. In the not to distant future.

I would like to meet people for new adventures. I'm happy to do most grades of walk. From half a day on the flat to a couple of days backpacking in the hills. Camping B+Bs Pubs or Hotels. I can do weekdays and weekends. I have a car and a Bongo. A small camper van.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Abergavenny hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name is Anne and I am looking for a walking buddy to enjoy the great outdoors with. Male or female I dont mind it would just be good to have some company and chat whilst out walking.
I am keen to explore new areas or revisit walks I have done before. I have a dog (well behaved) and whilst she is great company she is more interested in running off sniffing. Whilst happy to walk alone it would be great to have some company to share the outdoor experience with and perhaps push me to walk in areas/terrains I would not do alone.
I am reasonably fit but not necessarily a fast walker. Have recently taken up spin classes to boost my current fitness. Happy on 12 mile hikes.
I enjoy all types of walking; hills, (mountains with an experienced walker), coast path and meandering through valleys particularly if it ends in a pub for a cheeky drink after. I have previously walked in the Alps and Pyrenees but mainly stuck to the UK. I would love to do one of the UK long distance footpaths in the future if my dog is willing.
I am semi retired so can be flexible when it comes to planning a walk.

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Road Cycling
  • Skiing and/or Snowboarding

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Midlands hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: At the moment I'm more of a weekend walker because of work but later in the year, all that changes. I'm hoping to get out and about a good deal more during the months of longer days and (potentially) better weather though really don't mind rain and mud that much!
It's good to walk with others, I think. I get to see different routes and I have to think harder about devising them to show you.
Sometimes I take a sketchbook with me and try to capture something about the landscape on the way.
I hope we can enjoy a good walk and each other's company some time soon.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Swansea hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Alan. I enjoy walking both during my lunch break and in the evenings when daylight permits. It would be great to meet someone who lives locally who is interested in the same. At lunchtimes, urban or seafront walks are fine. In the evenings, I like to get out to the rural areas; Gower, the near side of the Brecon Beacons, and Swansea Valley are favourites.

I work at a computer from home, so it's important to me to get out into the fresh air for some exercise at least once a day. I'm open to strolling on an easy walk and also to moderately strenuous walks.

Drop me a line if you'd like to join me for conversation and exercise.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Brierfield hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello. I'm an athletic and active 62 yr old male (who still thinks he's 25). I retired from policing and all those years of walking the beat. I've been back packing around the world, done Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu etc. but still loads to see. It would be great to explore with a like minded female companion or any groups. I'm based in Brierfield near Burnley but, as a part time Sports Coach and Squash addict, I've got time, spontaneity, solvency and inclination to bag those peaks. So do get in touch... I won't use anything in evidence against you!!

I am a Walker, in my early 80s, based near Linlithgowish hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! Hope you are fit and curious.
I live twixt Edinburgh and Glasgow;the Forth and the Wallace monument are visible from the window of my snug 1 bed flat.
Born March 43, writer, reader,lifelong sportsman, still good for average walks. 6'2" 87kg.
N.B.I am just 80 not "early eighties". Like a 6 year old who is "6 and a half". It matters to me.
Full licence but no car.
The complex here boasts a cosy visitors' flat with twin beds which I can book for you at low cost.
There are fine local walks and a gateway to the rest of Scotland.
Animal lover; always had at least a dog till 2008.
Now I get my canine highs by pet sitting and having a pocketful of dog bickies. It leads to interesting encounters.
Walked Portuguese route of Camino in 2013. Would happily repeat.
'Twould be marvellous to walk with a female companion.
I play plenty of golf and follow sports, especially football but would willingly override that for some companionable walking.
Do make contact!

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Wythall hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm based in Worcestershire, which I love, despite having to travel to the nearest hills or mountains. I regularly walk the Malverns and am a keen walker, but have to admit I am not an expert at map reading, although I have led several walks on routes I am familiar with. I have walked with Explore overseas and climbed Mt Toubkal. Belonging to a mountaineering club enables me to get to the mountains regularly. Having taken early retirement, I am now free in the week to walk too, although I do have a lot of other hobbies too. I'd like to find a male walker of similar age to walk with, who is fit enough to do a mountain and talk at the same time. I love interesting conversation and to laugh! I am fit, outgoing, and am told I am good company. Look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Swansea hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I'm 58 and live near Gower/Swansea and would love to meet new walking companions as most of my friends aren't interested and the ones who are, have other demands on their time.
Unfortunately, due to concerns around Covid I haven't managed to go walking, or get out and about in general, as much as I would like in the last couple of years. I've just started again, weather permitting, although I'm not particularly fond of walking alone, but I have to rebuild my fitness and stamina. If I was lucky enough to meet someone local to me then I envisage perhaps doing a few relatively easy walks around Gower/Pembrokeshire initially and then tackling some steeper hills and mountains. I dislike winter intensely but am quite able to go walking in cold conditions (a few Western Canadian winters toughened me up in that regard).
I work full-time and am also doing an OU degree so until the lighter evenings return I'm tied to weekends, mainly in South/West/Mid Wales. Once spring arrives, however, I'd be happy to take leave from work to walk locally or further afield. I've been walking and camping in the Canadian Rockies, plus various N American National Parks, several times and I want to go back to Dartmoor and N Devon, Ireland and the Lake District in the coming years. I'd also like to hike in Scotland, Norway eg Lofoten Islands and the Grand Canyon and definitely want to visit Cuba someday.
I'm a bit of a contradiction really, being an introverted extrovert; however, I can get along with most people and hold my own on various subjects. I've noticed that there are many donkeys missing hind legs in my vicinity although I do also enjoy peace and quiet and just being aware of and contemplating nature. I love dogs, horses and most other animals, and my interests include music, reading, camping, travelling, summer nights in beer gardens, comedy clubs, spirituality, being by the sea, swimming, geography, history, politics and volunteering. I'm a car owner/driver and am happy to travel across the UK and Ireland. I often think about sea swimming but that's as far as I've got, so if you're into that then all the better!

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Cambridge hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am currently walking the England Coast Path and am up to Lyme Regis. I am looking for friends to continue walking from lyme Regis onwards (west) on the South East Coast Path, towards Land's End. I generally walk 6-10 miles a day (but can walk a bit more) for a few days, then drive back home for a rest. I generally stay in hotels, but camping and b&bs are also ok. You could join me for a few days for one section, or even just one day, that's ok. Other areas, especially East Anglia or the coast of Wales, are also ok.
I am easy going, like to drink coffee and tea, the occassional drink in a pub, watch a bit of football. I especially like chatting to locals in cafes and pubs along the way when I stop for a rest from walking. For me, walking the coast path is more about meeting people and learning about the UK than purely the exercise. I am British, was born and grew up here, but spent most of my adult life abroad in different countries. I am open to meeting different kinds of people.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near West Malling hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi everyone, I'm katherine and love walking as much as the rest of you. I would like to go walking and mountaineering with someone who is as passionate about the mountains as I am. Was hoping to go wild camping this year for a weekend in the summer so if you are up for that I'd love the company as I won't do on my own.

I've done a lot of the Lakes having spent all my holidays there. Recently completed Ben Nevis with my teenagers! Boy that was hard work but we achieved it. So basically that means we've done the 3 peaks and looking to attempt lots more this year.

I live in the Kent and regularly go cycling along the north downs. I walk reguarly but its so much better to have someone with you. If there happens to be a special person out there hey that's great, if not just making new friends would be fabulous too.

Looking forward to hearing from you
