I am a Walker, in my late 70s, based near Matlock hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Adrian, a vegetarian, single, retired, a co-operative rather than competitive person. Have walked solo for many years but do enjoy walking with a female companion/s to explore our beautiful island. I had a camper van for 12 years but in 2024 changed to a Eriba caravan to use as a mobile base for circular and linear walks. I enjoy all types of walks both short and full day walks and long distance. I have completed a number of classic long distance paths including The Dales Way, Pennine Way, Wainwrights Coast to Coast, Cleveland Way, West Highland Way etc. Not so good on heights these days so I avoid walking on high level narrow ledges. Am passionate about our natural world, fun loving, often quirky. Other interests include nature walks, conservation and engaged with local community activities. Am a long term of NT, WWF, RSPB, WildlifeTrust, Protect The Wild etc conservation groups. On the political front am a long term member of CND, supporter of Amnesty International, a Green Party member and in recent times a Corbynista. I enjoy reading natural history, biographies and have a eclectic taste in music, art cinema, theatre, the arts, wildlife gardening and DIY. Am politically a bit of a lefty. If any of this appeals, please get in touch.

A bit more about me:
I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me.
I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on.
I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own.
To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average.
I can drive and have a car.
I am also interested in:
- Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
- Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
- Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

My Message: Sincere, retired, down to earth professional who enjoys the outdoors and associated Wild life and nature, looking for like minded walking companions to share the beauty of our countryside. Walks up to 5-8 miles preferred, with an Al fresco packed lunch (home made cake a must),, possible pub meal on return, though not essential, Yorkshire, Peak District area to start with! I have done a fair bit of walking in my time and am a reasonable map reader, but my focus these days is more about enjoying the environment. I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near West Yorkshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hello. I'm looking for a male and female friends for local, regional or even national walks.
My mountaineering Welsh brother in law calls me a car park walker since I normally join 5-8 mile circular walks that don't involve needing to scramble down some hill on me bum. I enjoy scenery and wildlife and have pottered all around Yorkshire, Ambleside, Langdale Valley, Malvern Hills. I'm a '..have car, will travel...' kinda girl. I'm normally at church most Sunday mornings so evenings or Saturdays are best for me. My kind of walk ends with a pub as opposed to a tragic sandwich in my rucksack. I'm such a townie, I'm ashamed :-)
I also enjoy camping and fair weather cycling although a recent arm injury has clipped my wings on both. (no pun intended).
I'm rubbish at map reading and navigating although I am learning.

My Message: Hi there, Love being outdoors and my ideal day is a scenic walk at an amble pace rather than fast pace ramble as can take in surrounding scenery. Good map readers especially welcome as I was last in the queue when senses of direction were handed out! I'm free most weekends & Mondays..

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stoke-on-trent hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live on the edge of the Peak District and love the outdoors. I have walked all my life in most areas of the UK as well as internationally. I like trying new routes but I am also happy on old favourites watching them change with the seasons.
I am looking for people who don't take life too seriously, like a bit of adventure and enjoy exploring new areas. I took early retirement so can walk anytime. My ideal day out is a 5 to 15 mile walk including a coffee or other such beverage, a good chat and learning something new, from the history of the area to a new plant or bird call.
Many of my walks are currently in the Peak District but I will jump at the chance to travel to other areas. Recently I have also walked in Trossachs, North Downs and Snowdonia. I love being in the mountains but I am as happy viewing them from a longer walk through the valleys as climbing to the top.

I am a Walker, in my mid 70s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on mountains, hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there and around me, not to race to the end. What would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments or a meal. I'm just into my 70's but am very fit and am younger in appearance and character. I can get along with most people of all ages. I am vegan but whilst it would be lovely to meet a vegan or veggie, it isn't a prerequisite. I generally like to walk between 5-15 miles I'm very chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. I drive and don't see anywhere on the mainland as too far. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city and country breaks and the theatre to mention a few but always happy to try something new. Regards. Chris

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Hertfordshire hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I'm hoping to meet a like-minded male friend to walk, talk and share a love and appreciation of the outdoors. I've friends that I already walk with but mostly they are fair-weather amblers who, much as I love them, really don't notice or know anything about nature….not expecting Chris Packham but just someone who has a bit of curiosity and passion about the subject!
I do my day to day walking around Herts/Bucks/Beds but it would be good to have a companion for visiting pretty well anywhere in the UK. I'm not really interested in walking abroad at the moment as I have a dog who walks with me and also there are too many parts of the UK that I still want to visit…..
I've walked mostly in Herts, Bucks, Dorset, along Norfolk coast, in Lake District, North Yorkshire, parts of Highlands. My doggie and I did Ben Nevis 6 years ago but I'd not expect her to do that now, so peak-bagging is not my thing.
I have a good level of fitness and endurance for walking and would happily walk for several hours and in most weathers - having a dog I'm out 365 days and cooler temperatures often work best for us anyhow.
Stuff that interests me: UK wildlife (am a member of the RSPB), the Arctic, planets and constellations, Northern Lights, politics (I'm bit lefty), current affairs, art, bioscience
Stuff I dislike: pseudo-science, beige food, small-talk
What else? I'm an introvert, I love one to one interaction and am very talkative with the right person, where we share interests and values; big groups are not my thing at all. I read a lot, listen to music a lot, love the radio. I eat mostly a Mediterranean diet. I don't watch much tv but when I do it's probably a Scandi Noir (nothing has ever beaten The Bridge).
I have recently retired from paid employment so can walk anytime I choose, however I do have voluntary charity commitments, but can work around these.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near London hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: I live in London, but have done lots of long distance path walking, including the SW coastal path and the Cumbria Way and a fair bit of mountain walking in Scotland: Arran, the Cairngorms, Mull, Assynt... I would love to explore more countryside, mostly the northern half of the country and Ireland, which I'm sorry to say I've never been to!
I was a bike commuter for many years which has given me a good level of fitness and I still love cycling in the city, preferring to mostly keep to quiet routes.
Don't be put off by the fact that I live in London! I can travel!!
And of course there are some lovely walks in and around London.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Lincoln hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hi. I'm semi retired and live near Lincoln. I love the outdoors and love to spend my time walking, running and even gardening. Anything to be outside. I do most of my walking in the Lake District, Peak District and some on the Lincolnshire Wolds. Im always happy to explore and have previously walked in the, Wales and Scotland.
My partner is not really interested in my love of walking and not that keen on the great outdoors. I do a lot of walking on my own but would enjoy some company, ideally someone who loves being outdoors like me and who doesn't mind a bit of weather. My work pattern varies so I can be free mid week and weekends too.
I've started to tick off the Wainwrights (over half of them now) and I'm now the proud owner of a camper van and hope to venture further afield.
I'd also like to do a few wild camps.

My Message: Hello, my name is Adrian. I am looking for a walking partner for local, regional or even national walks. Maybe even overseas! I've recently moved to the Malvern Hills area (Worcestershire) where there are many interesting walks over hills, through woods and along rivers so do come along and visit! I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Shrewsbury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I mix and match my walks, so that can mean anything from a short river stroll to a long distance path,I'm planning to do the Great Glen Way soon(ish). I completed a month long walk in Spain earlier this year but that was quite an unusual one for me.
I also do short trips away walking (or mostly walking) several times a year where I based in one place, again camping. I'm only a couple of hours from the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia.
A few years ago I rearranged my life so I now have a lot of flexibility in my life, the chances are that I cam fit in with your schedule.
It's not all walking, and in truth I'm not hyperactive, so I do a some overseas travel which doesn't necessarily include strenuous hikes. Last tear I did a trip to Moroccan Sahara with a vehicle. Recently I booked the cheapest flight that I could find to India and then worked out some approximate travel plans around that.
As you may have noticed, I ticked the box to say that I am looking for walking friends but I would be happy if someone special came along. If you think you might be that someone special' then I'm happy to share a bit more about myself.
I hope to hear from you soon :)

I am a Walker, in my early 70s, based near Manchester hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hi, I'm ideally looking for an easy-going female to become a regular walking companion. I enjoy say 8 - 12 mile walks of what might be termed 'medium' grade but will go for the occasional more challenging trip. Being retired I can be reasonably flexible re weekdays or weekends, again ideally within a reasonable drive of Manchester; i.e. Lakes, Lancs, Peaks.
I say my map-reading skills are average but my investment in an OS Map App has so far kept me from going astray! I'm happy to put in a bit of effort to get the best out of the scenery, and have a bit of a natter and a pint or otherwise as just rewards at the end of the day.
Thanks / Dave

A bit more about me:
When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it.
With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs.
I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other.
To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average.
I can drive and have a car.
I am also interested in:
- Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Manchester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name's Frank and I'm just the wrong side of 60 - or the right side depending on your viewpoint!
Four years ago I rediscovered walking and fell back in love with the great outdoors. I've spent much of that time in the Lakes, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales and on long distance walks such as the Coast to coast and the Pennine Way.
Each year I choose a set of goals to complete, in 2023 I climbed every Ethel and visited every trig point in the Peak District and completed over half of the Pennine Way, this year I've walked the Coast to coast and have almost finished the GM Ringway, a 200 mile set of paths round Manchester. I've yet to decide what next year holds in store, though Hadrians Wall is whispering to me and I've one eye on the West Highland way and the other on the Dales Way in Yorkshire.
During this time I've walked alone, with family and friends and in organised groups. Along the way I've met many interesting people and after stumbling on this site I'm hoping to find walking companions with whom to share a pleasant day in the fresh air with some good company and some great tales to hear and tell.
I work full time so most of my excursions are at the weekend but I can get out on summer evenings round Manchester, though I'd have to work round other interests such as partner dancing. If you think a steep ascent is tough a couple of Argentine tango lessons will soon redefine your sense of difficulty!

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Ludlow hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hello, I am looking for male/female walking friends. As I work all week it would mainly be for weekend walking, whether a day walk or an weekend away. If you are local to me then happy to do some evening walks in the week.
I would say I have a good level of fitness, map skills get me by (most of the time!).
I am happy on most terrains in any weather and any area at a pace to enjoy the surroundings. I like doing trails, either as a linear walk or doing in sections and making a circular walk.
In an ideal world it would be good to meet some walk mates to plan some trips for in the UK or overseas(open to ideas).
Would be great to hear from you.

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Liverpool hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hi my name is Lee and I live Liverpool.
I have decided to update this message as I have walked quite a few routes now thanks to a very good mate Tom who I met through the site. For me as much as I love walking but I also love admiring the view, maybe sneak in a little bit of rest while having a rest.
I do have friends but they are really not interested in the idea of walking, not sure why, maybe they're lazy.
The downside is I dont drive so would need to be able to get to the walks via public transport. So if I can get there via a train it's ideal.
If you are interested in helping me out, I am more than happy to pay my way :-)

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Coventry hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hi, I am looking for pleasant, easy going male or female walking friends preferably located in The Midlands, but not limited to this area as I'm more than willing to travel for an adventurous day out. Someone who loves the outdoors and likes to have a gentle chat, someone who can listen as well as talk, who has a good sense of humour and who isn't averse to a bit of adventure. I love to take advantage of the lighter evenings in the Spring and Summer to walk locally (within a 20ish miles radius) during the week. I work a couple of days a week, but can fit in daytime walks on other weekdays and at weekends. Happy to discuss any possibilities. It would be great to hear from you. Best wishes and happy walking, Mo (Maureen).

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.
The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.
I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.
I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.
My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.
I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).
My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.
If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.
My Message: Hello,
I'm 64, living north of Nottingham and I am now semi retired. I'm lucky enough to now only work about 3 days a week and I want to make the most of my freetime. I'm already pretty active, playing tennis, swimming and, during the summer, watching a great deal of cricket. I recently (April) lost my long term partner/best friend. I'm not looking for anything more than friendship at the moment.
I'm certainly not what could be described as a serious walker. I'm just looking to explore the countryside more and hopefully meet some interesting people along the way. I love going into Derbyshire and it's very convenient for me. However I have no real restrictions on where I'm prepared to go. I have thought about joining a walking group and I may do that in time. I do feel more comfortable in small groups though.
That's enough waffle for now.
Cheers
Tony
