Booking Coast to Coast Accomodation with Dogs

My neighbours and I are looking to do the C2C [Wainwright's Coast to Coast] walk with my two dogs. Is it cheaper to book each place seperately (Myself) or through a tour operator. Also, can the walk be done in less that 15 days?? Thanks so much x
