Answer a walking and hiking question

Got an answer to the following Walking/Hiking question?

Walking on Land Funded by Government Grants

Hi, I would like to walk around a field that the farmer is getting paid to leave as a conservation area but he has put up a board saying do not walk here. My argument is if he is getting tax payers money i.e. mine to do this then I should have the right to walk in this area as a tax payer, if it is private land then it should not be funded by public money. I was walking their the other day and he said I will be charged with trespass if I do it again. Please could you clarify for me my legal rights to walk in this area as a tax payer funding this.
