Do I need a guide to climb Scafell Pike?

We are planning on climbing Scafell Pike at the beginning of Oct and wondered whether it was advisable to go with a guide?

We have some hill walking experience and have climbed Ben Nevis via the arete (with a guide) but aren't experienced hill walkers.
