Walking/Hiking Answers: Walking and Hiking Boots suitable for crampons

Walking And Hiking Boots Suitable For Crampons
I will shortly be buying some new walking boots.
The type of walking I do is low level but with some fell walking, last New Year when in the Lake District the conditions were VERY icy underfoot and I found it difficult to stand up let alone walk!
Please advise me on Boots and the possible use of crampons in icy conditions. I have sought advice from a reputable shop in the Peak District and they advise a B1 boot suitable for fixing a crampon, the Boot was considerably heavier than the present Boot (Wainwright) that I have and I do wonder if I will be able to get on with it and the higher ankle support that it has.
