Walking/Hiking Answers: Which Waterproof Walking Jacket?

Got an answer to the following question?

Which Waterproof Jacket

Your Gear Guides (see below) are excellent, but I'm hoping someone will be able to give me a bit more help with choosing a waterproof jacket.

There is just such a huge array on the market, from £300 to £20 - not to mention all the different types of Gore-tex fabric!

The more I look into it, the more confused I become.

I'm looking at a relatively lightweight jacket for about £150, with Gore-tex Saturn (I think) and a Polartec 100gsm fleece as a mid layer - I know I can get a heavier fleece or add another one for colder weather.

Will this be enough for day-long hikes in the Peaks? Or do I really need to go out and spend £250 to keep warm and dry?

I was hoping that someone with a bit more experience could advise me.
