Suunto Altimax

Suunto Altimax. Help ! Is it me or is the Altimax quite difficult to work out?

I am having problems with the altimeter. When I am at the summit of a mountain and I check the height on the map, when I look at the altimeter it is way off - some times by 100 meters?
