Walking/Hiking Answers: Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk waypoints- Latitude/Longitude Vs
Got an answer to the following question?
Wainwright's Coast To Coast Walk Waypoints - Latitude Or Longitude Vs British Grid
I have always used lat long as a navigational grid.
We are making our first trip to the UK and intend to do the Coast to Coast walk. We have downloaded the waypoints for the GPS only to find that they are in the British Grid system.
I'm sure one is convertible to the other, and that UK maps must have a grid marking system similar to the lat/long used on U.S. maps, but I don't know how to do it.
Is the British Grid convertible to distance and direction as are lat/long. Knowing that a minute of lat is a nautical mile and that a minute of long is a nautical mile corrected for latitude is handy?
Cheers
