Walking/Hiking Answers: Buying walking boots for low level walks

Buying Walking Boots For Low Level Walks
I have tried on a lot of walking boots. I am doing low level walking, mainly flat footpaths with the dogs. I am a size 6 and have measured my foot length wise it is exactly 26 cm long.
I have had it measured professionally i am an exact 6 from heel to toe, without socks on.
I have tried a pair of Salomon walking shoes on - one in size 6 and one in 6.5 both feel OK.
The walking shop advised a 6.5 for extra space and foot swell when walking. They both seem OK and cost £69.00. [In] the 6 I have no space at [the] front, [my] toe is at the end. It is hard to know how they feel when walking.
Is it advisable to get an extra half in size? There is only just over half an inch of space at the front. This I have also measured by taking out the insoles as well in the shop.
Can you advise me - it is a lot of money to spend.
Thanks
