Walking/Hiking Answers: Buying new Walking and Hiking Boots

Buying New Walking Boots

I am recently new to walking (only through dog ownership- a Collie who goes for miles). I wish to purchase some boots.

I have read your advice and feel I want lightweight trail boots/shoes.

Please advise the best make and type that are not too expensive (around £50).

Also what size, I am a 4 in shoe, but have found that both 5 and 6's fit depending on make.

Should I wear socks when trying on.
