Points of Interest/Notes on this walk:

Aysgarth Falls comprise three flights of waterfalls on the River Ure as it descends through Wensleydale. High Falls can be is easily viewed from Yore Bridge by Yore Mill. Middle Falls and Lower Falls can be seen from well-managed paths and vantage points in Freeholders' Wood on the north bank of the river. All three are spectacular during or soon after wet weather, as thousands of litres of rushing water cascade over a series of broad limestone steps.

Middle Falls and Lower Falls can be seen from well-managed paths and vantage points in Freeholders' Wood on the north bank of the river. All three are spectacular during or soon after wet weather, as thousands of litres of rushing water cascade over a series of broad limestone steps.

At High Force, the River Tees plunges 21m (70ft) over a near vertical cliff edge in two stages. After heavy rainfall the River Tees will also flow over the dry right-hand side channel creating two falls. The falls have been known to freeze in harsh winters , creating spectacular ice formations.

William Ruskin and William & Dorothy Wordsworth all visited and admired the Aysgarth Falls and the painter J M W Turner sketched the cascades during a tour of the North. High Falls and Middle Falls also featured in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
