I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Forest Of Dean
My Message: COMPANION SOUGHT FOR YOUNG-MINDED 52YR OLD TO GET HER WALKING AGAIN!
I used to walk a lot but life and study got in the way, so I've lost my fitness and developed a niggling hip. Going up-hill is good though long descents on steep, mountainous ground can be tricky. Flat ground is uncomfortable to walk for long periods. Overall, could probably do 5 miles to begin with and build up to longer walks.
I still have good stamina, and still love being outdoors, but walking by myself has lost much of the appeal and enjoyment it used to have.
I am fairly familiar with the Black Mountains and Llangattock Hillside, having lived in Crickhowell and walking one or the other daily. I once knew the Garth and Rudry (N Cardiff). I've walked Pen-Y-Fan and Snowden too (well, OK, I walked down Snowden!). Have really only walked in South Wales so am open to new walks, preferably circular ones.
I live on the edge the Forest of Dean now, (near Ross-on-Wye) but find the tracks better for cycling. Company in this would be nice too, especially some help to develop stamina and mb skills for other cycling routes. Cycling is kinder to my hip and great fun too. I have a good bike but I'm out of practice.
I am at a cross roads in life - my son has fledged and, after 25 years as a self-employed French polisher, I'm trying to change career. All of which appears to mean adopting a new outlook on life too, so meeting new people with new points of view would be welcomed.
I consider myself to be a young 52 yr old – not quite a Tigger but certainly not an Eyeore! I enjoy conversation, camping, silence, philosophy, nature, a beer, jam on my scones, being wow-ed and a jolly good laugh. If this resonates with you and if you are patient and without ulterior motive, I’d be really happy to know about it.
