I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Nantwich

My Message: Hi,

I live in Nantwich. My wife and friends are not keen on mountains or high places so I sometimes walk with groups (clubs, walking festivals or charity events). Other times I walk alone. I am looking for new friends for occasional day or weekend walks (male, female or small group).

I'm easy going, and always up for a laugh. Ideally I prefer mountain walks in wild places, ridge walks, edge walks, anything with some elevation and views really. A bit of scrambling is always a welcome bonus. Also I like overnight walks to take in the sunrise over the mountains when conditions allow. Happy to do some lower level walks though particularly if the weather is bad. Ok with map and compass, never get lost, though occasionally I get delayed ;-)

Some people have said that I walk fairly fast, I’m not sure really so I went up Snowdon on one of the easy paths, good weather and an 8kg pack. Took just under 2 hours from car park to summit (about 4 miles and 3,000 ft. ) I think that is a steady relaxed pace but might be fast for some people, slow for others. (I can walk faster or slower though) Distance is no problem, really depends on the terrain but long or shorter days are fine.

Happy staying in Youth hostels, bunkhouses, camping, bivvy bag on a hill, etc.

My Favorite place to walk is Snowdonia (still plenty more to explore) but I would like to spend a bit more time on the high fells in the Lake District this summer and possibly do the Yorkshire 3 peaks (never done it but no idea why not). Scotland would also be good but may have to wait due to available time.

Open to suggestions for any new challenges, via ferrata, Caving, Sea to Summit, Perhaps Lakeland 3000s or Welsh 3000s (probably over a weekend though as I don’t think I am fit enough to do either of these in the 24 hours) I plan to retire in about 2 years so I will have more time for bigger adventures but for now I am limited to weekends though I can usually get away early on Fridays.

I love dogs, don’t have one at present but Border Collies are my favorite breed. I like them all though so if you have a dog that likes to walk that would be great.

If you fancy meeting up for a walk sometime please get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Dave.
