I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Maidenhead hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm looking to meet some friendly company to go walking with mainly on weekends due to work commitments and ideally within an hours drive of Maidenhead. I like to walk 5-10 miles at a reasonable pace, but don't want a route march. The perfect walk includes good lighthearted conversation, a coffee break and a pub at the end. I mainly walk the Thames Path and the Chilterns these days, with a bit of the South West Coast Path thrown in when I'm in the area. Happy to consider longer walks further afield when time permits and definitely want to do more of the South West Coast Path.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:5:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
The English Midlands; East Anglia; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Motorcycling

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Amersham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Looking for both Female and male walking friends to explore different areas in the UK. I live in Buckinghamshire Chilterns hills and would like to have friends to explore more around here. At the same time would love to explore together other places!!
I have my own car but can drive only around my area. Rely on the train for longer distances.
Visited the peak district last May and very soon going to the lake district.
I'm aiming to improve my hiking skills.

I'm calm and peaceful. Spiritual, but not religious.Not actively looking for anything except a walking companion, unless the right person comes along

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

By putting my profile on here I am hoping to meet someone special.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Nantwich hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I have recently re-purchased my old campervan and am planning on bagging all the Bridgets (I think that's what they're called) in the Peak District. I am relatively fit (although would love to lose a few pounds) and have enjoyed walking in the Lakes in the past although I think I have only completed 40 Wainwright's. The Peak District is much closer for me and means I can also do some as a day trip. I have quite a busy life and have a good group of friends but they have their own lives and partners and not always free for walking. I've got two 'adult' children who sometimes live at home (when they need feeding and home comforts). I enjoy stand up comedy, sewing, podcasts, r6, a bit of trashy tv, a pub quiz with friends and all the usual things.

I am a Walker, in my mid 70s, based near Fleetwood hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I'm David, single, 74 and retired (summer '12), I live in beautiful Fylde,having moved from my native Manchester, and would like to meet singles or a group to make walking more pleasurable. I'm not that experienced a walker so may have to be gradually more adventurous in my excursions, having said that my last job was very active so I need more than a gentle stroll to the pub. An active stroll to the pub, then, or a tea shop or whatever. My map reading skills are reasonable, I think, and I have a good sense of direction. Anybody reasonably local who would like to join forces with me, please get in touch. Dog owners welcome, though cats preferred!

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Chesterfield, Derbyshire hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi. I'm Steve. I live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, so not far from the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales. Hoping to meet someone of a similar age for scenic walks and interesting conversation in those areas although I have a car and am prepared to travel a reasonable distance. I am fairly new to walking but am quite fit (used to go to the gym regularly before the Covid-19 pandemic) and have recently been walking both alone and on group walks locally and in the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. I haven't really had any experience of map reading as I have generally been in the company of someone else who knew where they were going! - so it would be useful to pair up with a competent map reader but it's not essential (we could just make it up as we went along! - what's the worst that could happen?). I am retired so can be available any time given sufficient notice. Looking forward to exploring the countryside in good company.

I am a Walker, in my mid 30s, based near Sunderland hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've always been interested in hiking up mountains but never gave myself the time for it. I'm wanting to learn to read a map and navigate properly, and put more effort in and build experience so i can tackle the more exposed ridges.
I want build up to walk the west highland way, finished with Nevis, and also the pennine way. Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro is also a target of mine.
I have kids every other weekend, so it will be my weekends without I'm available.. Once they're a little older they will come with me.

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Portsmouth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I walk both for fitness and pleasure and I am particularly interested in meeting someone who would like to travel and walk. Not simply to clock up loads of miles (I mostly keep under 10) but for sightseeing and to enjoy local communities, live music and a few drinks. Someone who camps would be great, as I would like to get away for short breaks in the summer. I also want to do more walking abroad; excluding anything very extreme! Not keen on cold nor spiders! As a person I am quite practical, independent, thoughtful but not intellectual, a bit daft at times, relatively non judgmental, not keen on snobbery and do not follow a religion or a sport. Walking, theatre, art and listening to a variety of music are my main interests.

I am a Walker, in my early 20s, based near Hatfield hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there,

I'm a Portuguese 20yo studying physics in the UK and who loves long treks and challenging hikes.
I have been a scout for most of my life and that is how I developed some orientation skills and camping experience. (I am comfortable with topographic maps and compass)
Camped and walked around Portugal many times and now that I am living in the UK, I aim to become familiar with the different types of geography the country has to offer.

I consider myself to be quite upbeat and I don't mind getting myself dirty if the reward is to climb on top of a mountain, or reach the other side of a river, or stand over a breathtaking scenario.

As a scout, I am serious about keeping my activities as discrete and environmentally friendly as possible, therefore expect me to follow the preservation guidelines associated with the sites we explore.

As for now, I am looking to plan a long trek in Scotland, preferably with someone who has some experience and has had some familiarity with similar treks. I have been considering the Cape Wrath trail or trekking in the Cairngorms National Park, but any other suggestion would be welcome. I aim to spend the first two/three weeks of September trekking and wild camping (as I am about to finish a summer internship). Hence if you love hiking, have some experience, and would like to join, please message me!

Cheers,

Dinis

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Cheshire West hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I like nothing more than a day walk, any time of year, whatever the weather. I prefer a more challenging walk but strolls are welcome too. I love being amongst nature, I find it very calming and grounding after a set of shifts.

I'd like to find a fit walking friend who doesn't mind what the weather brings.
I am not looking for a relationship, just a likeminded individual to share some pleasant hikes with.

I enjoy ridge walks and have done the CMD arête, Crib Goch, Aonach Eagach and lots of the other main ones. Scrambling is a passion too - the Wildboarclough one is my favourite to date. I enjoy Snowdonia, Tryfan, Snowdon, The Glyders etc. I'm happy on flatter walks too - I was brought up in Lincolnshire! I like cycling too, I've a road and mountain bike. I have a car so travelling is no problem.

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Cheshire hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Enjoy walking and off to Lakes for a few days on my own and found this site whilst searching for a couple of walks around Coniston and Ambleside. Have moved back to Cheshire recently and thought it might be interesting to find walking companions. Never thought about asking for walking companions.

Currently work in Liverpool during the week with a combination of working from home so tend to walk at night or weekends. Enjoy Cheshire walks and wider Walks in Wales, Lakes, etc and happy for 2-4 hour routes with a bit of variety but don't always want to drive to walk when I'm on my own. Generally expect to be available every other weekend.

Have kept active over lockdown and average around 20 miles a week but still have potential and ambition to lose a few pounds in walking more regularly. Don't really have a bucket list of walks but would be happy to join up and target specific walks or a series of walks.

I am a Walker, in my early 70s, based near High Peak hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've been walking mostly in the Peak District, where I live, and the Lake District recently. I've been ticking off Wainwrights and have only 8 to go and I've started on the Birketts. I'm a widower and retired so can walk midweek and have mostly been walking alone for a number of years. I'm very fit for my age and like longer mountain walks. I've also walked in France, Spain, Germany, Italy Greece and Turkey. I've even done a bit of sport climbing in the last few years - rock climbing was a passion many years ago. I've also rediscovered an interest in photography and have been a yoga practitioner for more than 30 years. My Message: Hi, I am looking for fellow walkers to share the joys of the great outdoors with followed by a well earned beer or meal! I am fairly fit and for me I like being out being out there in the countryside listening to the birds. seeing the wild flowers, enjoying the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a reasonable navigator and I enjoy exploring off the beaten track. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild enjoying the splendour of our countryside. I have my own transport and can walk occasionally mid week or at the weekend to suit.
Ian

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Walk Leader for my Local Ramblers Group(s).

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Chester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi
I know nothing about walking/hiking! I am going to be climbing Kilimanjaro with my daughter next year and I want to start walking so that I can train for this trek. I have a new pair of hiking/mountaineering boots, a day pack and the will to learn! I am looking for anyone out there who is willing to walk with me. I'd like to start with a Grade 1 trek and work my way up to Snowdonia and everything in between. I am reasonably fit as I go to the gym with a strict PT 3 times per week. I can walk on Sundays because I work the other 6 days of the week. If you're wiling to take on the teaching of a novice, I'd like to hear from you, please!

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in most weathers but do not like snow and ice. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. Sadly, my map reading & navigation skills are pretty hopeless. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Sutton Coldfield hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I love walking in the Lake District, have always loved the Lakes and mountains. In the last few years I've done some coast walking and really like that too. I have done Anglesey and parts of the South West Coast Path and I'd love to fill in the missing pieces. Having moved to the Midlands about 6 years ago, I'd love to discover what the area has to offer.
I am retired now so have more time and I also keep myself fit by playing tennis.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Newcastle-under-lyme, Staffordshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there, weather great, company sought. Moved to South Staffordshire in Lockdown, so much yet to explore. Happy to stay local at first; Woods, canals, towpaths, NT parks, lakes... No doubt uninspiring to most! In my defense :) I have hiked in the Spanish Pyrenese, Italian Dolomites, Himalayas, a past life, many moons ago. Not as fit, just want to enjoy a gently paced walk in nature as I am today, not ruin my day-or yours-with high expectations! Im nice company :) free Fridays and weekends. Speak soon, Zi x

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Stoke On Trent hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I am looking to find companion to go for a walk. I work full time during the week so only have time to do walks on Saturdays/Sundays. I enjoyed walking in the Peak District and around Staffordshire Moorlands, but an easy stroll around villages or parks would be great too. Would like to walk again to Snowdonia and Lake District and open for possibilities to walk somewhere down south. I like taking photos every now and again with either my phone or my other cameras.

I am a Walker, in my early 30s, based near Cumbria hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, mid 30s female looking to find new walking buddies. I live on the coast in the lake district and have only recently started to appreciate what I have on my doorstep. My fitness level is pretty average but I am hoping to build on this.
The fells are a challenge for me but once you get to the top the views just make it all worth while don't you think.
Although I do drive and have my own car, I am a nervous driver so tend to walk locally but hey the roads out to these cumbrian fells are pretty awful so if I can manage that I'm sure I can go further afield right??!
My availability to get out walking varies week to week due to my 2 tiny humans.
Due to starting my walking ventures in lockdown, I haven't yet had the opportunity to reward myself with some nice pub grub and a drink at these lovely country pubs that are dotted around, so looking forward to doing that with some nice company after a good walk.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Liverpool hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi

I'm based in Liverpool (Waterloo/Crosby) and have recently started to do some easy walking to ease myself gently into doing this. With a view to either doing this slightly more often or being able to tackle something a little more ambitious (nothing major though, ultimately it has to be fun).

I have in the past been a member of a rambling group which did some fairly substantial walks around the country but that's a long time ago. I'm now trying to get out and about a bit more and I'm currently working on my walking fitness which is probably around 2-3 hours walking at a reasonable pace. So I would class myself in the grades 2,3,4 at least for the moment (no real expectation to progress much further than 4). My current walking has been local but I do love to travel and I'm handily placed for such as the Lake District. My fitness is reasonable because I try to maintain this for skiing once or twice a year.

I work full time (weekdays) and also volunteer at an animal rescue on Sunday mornings. So I may only be available some Saturdays, maybe Sundays after 2pm, and occasional weekday evenings. Hopefully my occasional availability doesn't put anyone off.

It would be nice to meet like-minded people who like to get out and about whilst enjoying other people's company.

Hope to hear from you.
