[weather] Forcast predicted 3 degrees on top. It was a lot colder than that with cutting icy winds on ridge, hail on High Street & Nan Biled Pass into Kentmere. When sun was out you could feel the warmth in it. Sunny & warm with a cool breeze on ridges

[weather] Clear, fine & a beautiful sunny day for late September. - Parked car at Cow Bridge car park. (donation into box). Commenced at 0945hrs. & stuck to the route apart from not visiting the top of Cauldale Head to take in the views. The good weather certainly brought out individual groups of walkers so we were not alone. Arrived back to the car at 1515hrs. After a thoroughly enjoyable day.

The route took me from Penrith along High Street the old Roman Road to Windermere via the following Wainwrights. Loadpot Hill, Whether Hill, High Raise, Rampsgill Head, High Street, Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, Ill Bell, Yoke & Sour Howes. [with] On my own for this trip [weather] Dry & fine weather but extremely windy overnight to a point that I thought my tent was going to be blown away, but alas it survived.

[weather] Sunny & hot becoming cloudier later on with a cold northerly breeze. - Lying unsuspected below the summit of Stony Cove Pike are the crags of Threshwaite Cove. There is a very steep & rocky descent here which me & Henry took slowly & with some care. Having descended all that way to Threshwaite Mouth we then had to scramble all the way back up to reach the 14 foot high summit beacon of Thornthwaite Crag. This is another fine top with wonderful views southwards.

Elaine Evans scaled Thornthwaite Crag on May 2nd, 2019 [from/via/route] From car park at Hartsop, ascended steeply up to Hartsop Dodd, continued to Stony Cove Pike, followed path & descended to cull then up to Thornthwaite Crag & on to Gray Crag before returning to Hartsop. Similar route to c231. [with] Sue [weather] Mostly dry, warm in some places but also a welcome cool breeze at times. Rained for last 10 minutes of walk but still quite pleasant. - Missed you CJ! One of our best walks, helped enormously be the favourable weather conditions & clear visibility.

Despite the wind there were plenty of places for a lunch stop in shelter.
