Colin Egan scaled Stony Cove Pike (Caudale Moor) on April 5th, 2017 [from/via/route] Continuation from Gray Crag, 6th of 6 fells today. Approached via flank of Thornthwaite Crag & Theshthwaite Mouth. Not an enjoyable route up onto no 6. [with] My wife Faith [weather] Sunny day with some cloud, wind cold & strong on summit. - Walk as far as Threshthwaite Mouth was pleasant but the climb up the flank of Threshthwaite Crag was not much fun, scrambling where there is no clear path ahead & one felt almost as though the next leg up was too high. The route down towards Kirkstone Pass was OK but boring & boggy. The last bit after more than 12 miles was almost as hard as the earlier climb, the path down under St Raven's Edge was steep & rocky & tired legs did not appreciate it! The drinks we had in the Kirkstone Inn were some compensation for the hard slog at the end of an excellent day out on the fells.
