Climbed from Kidsty Pike. Tired after walk preceding day. Included Adam's Seat. Descent from Selside Pike boggy on Old Corpse Road. Poor expensive pint of Mary Jane at Haweswater Hotel.
Martyn Howarth bagged Selside Pike on April 1st, 2024 [from/via/route] From Mardale Head, up to Gatesgarth Pass, over Branstree, onto Selside Pike & down via the Old Corpse Road. [with] Tilly Howarth & Archie Howarth (and Barnaby the dog). [weather] Rather bleak, with drizzly rain & low cloud. Very little in teh way of views of the tops - just across Haweswater & Riggindale.

Richard Fulcher climbed Selside Pike on May 7th, 2022 [from/via/route] Parked in a lay-by near the Mardale Head car park. Set off up to Small Water (coffee) & then gradually up the hill behind the tarn up to Nan Bield. From there we ascended Harter Fell. From the top of Harter Fell we descended to Gatesgarth Pass & then up again (bit of a slog) up to Branstree. From Branstree we walked past the 'monoliths' & on to Selside ( I diverted to look at the 'Pillar'). After Selside we descended in an easterly direction & joined the Old Corpse Road & followed it down to the road by Haweswater. [with] Jen [weather] Fairly still with some cold wind on the tops. Cloud developed but there was no wind. - Some interesting ruined buildings on the way down.
Richard Marchant bagged Selside Pike on November 21st, 2021 [from/via/route] I parked the car alongside Haweswater near Rowantreethwaite Beck & took the Old Corpse Road up to High Birkin Knott then headed south west to Selside Pike & carried on along the ridge to Branstree then descended North & West of Hopgill Beck back to the car. [with] By Myself. [weather] Clear Skies frosty morning & a cold northerly wind

Kevin Foster hiked Selside Pike on April 19th, 2019 [from/via/route] Swindale Lane. [with] Henry. [weather] Sunny with very little breeze making it quite hot for walking. - I chose this walk to start off my Lakes campaign thinking it was a fairly remote part of the Lakes & it might not be too overcrowded over the Easter weekend...wrong! When I got there the car park was already full. Although I saw many people out & about strangely I had almost every summit top to myself. The exception being Selside Pike where I met a couple with two dogs, one of which tried to eat my sandwich & the other had a go at Henry for getting too close or something. Luckily they made their apologies & quickly moved on.
Nick Dobson summited Selside Pike on August 27th, 2018 [from/via/route] Mardale Head up Gatesgarth Pass v [with] Margaret & Ralph [weather] Bright sunny day - returned to Mardale Head via the Old Copse Road, then coffee & scones at the Haweswater Hotel while Ralph cracked the zzzzzzzzzz's in the back of the car.

Descent via old corpse road to join road alongside Haweswater reservoir back to car park. [with] Sue and Christine [weather] Lovely day for a walk! Snow underfoot but clear, dry day with a little sunshine now & again. - Fun in the snow!
John Bryers has scaled Selside Pike [from/via/route] Car to Swindale head & took Old Corpse road. Selside Pike, Branstree, Tarn Crag & Grey Crag. Nipping across to Harrop pike & down Little Mosedale beck back to car. 11.2 miles recorded. Detour via Swindale Force waterfalls - Best waterfalls in the Lake District! [with] With Mya my faithful Patterdale Terrier. [weather] Weather cloudy with occasional showers with some strong cool winds for August! - Lunch at Brunt Tongue wood in Little Mardale valley.

Colin Egan summited Selside Pike on April 1st, 2017 [from/via/route] From Haweswater via the Old Corpse Road & thence the NE ridge to the top [with] My wife Faith [weather] Sunny day with some cloud - We started this walk shortly after a really heavy storm passed heading East. Water was running down the lakeshore road & the path up was literally a stream at times. The waterfalls were absolutely thundering down and most impressive. Underfoot was extremely squelchy, like walking on a wet sponge but the cairn & shelter at the top was quite surprising for such an unassuming fell.

The starting point was the car park at the head of Haweswater & along Gatescarth Pass. [with] Candy the dog. [weather] 26ºC. No cloud but a welcome breeze.

Marcus Bradshaw has conquered Selside Pike [from/via/route] (c251)Started at Haweswater head car park. Up the Old Copse Road to Selside Pike then across the ridge in a horseshoe to the last Wainwright which was Kidsty pike. [with] We took a Spanish boy called Seb who loved it and introduced him to Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. Oviously Marcus was with me. Navigating in extream conditions! [weather] Weather was good at lake side but deteriorated as we climbed. Visibility was about 40 m on the ridge & the wind was blowing hard at times. - Met two miserable walkers at the Shelter who advised us not to go on top but the wind died down by High street.
