[with] On my own [weather] showery but bright - This was my second attempt to bag Clough Head. The first was aborted in mist. Didn't really enjoy the long walk in before the ascent; probably better with others to chat to. Climbed again on 31.07.20 on a gloriously sunny day using walk c239 Repeated walk c239 on 27.07.2022 but walked further along the Old Coach Road before climbing up to Clough Head via White Pike. This was a much clearer & easier path than the one from Mariel Bridge.

Caroline Winter climbed Clough Head on April 15th, 2022 [from/via/route] Parked on road to Threlkeld mining museum, track past Setmabanning caravan park, direct line up , Clough Head, return to to Great Dodd & descent of Clough Head towards Matterdale [with] Becky [weather] Warm & windy - Good Friday walk. Road past Setmabanning did not seem to correspond to my old OS map. After this straight forward. Found the direct acsent to Clough Head quite tough going

Richard Marchant bagged Clough Head on September 16th, 2021 [from/via/route] I parked the car in St John's in the Vale & ascended Clough Head first via Wanthaite Bank from here carried on South along the ridge taking in Calfhow Pike, Great Dodd, Watson's Dodd, Stybarrow Dodd then down to Sticks Pass & up to Raise from here I back tracked down to Sticks Pass. I proceeded down to Stybeck Farm along the A591 & ascended High Rigg on the way back to the car. [with] By Myself. [weather] Light Cloud with a light Breeze to start with, then late morning the clouds broke & blessed with Sunny intervals - 6 Wainwrights Bagged today making my total to date climbed to 107 I have reached the halfway point today.

Perfect. - No 64 Wainwright. Stayed in Glenridding & set off early as had been advised parking is limited. Set off at 8. Perfect! No boggy ground as it had dried out, only soft grass until the old coach road which went on seemingly for ever. The horseflies were evil though & Charlie got three bites!

[with] With Mya my faithful 11 year old Patterdale Terrier. [weather] Started out OK, but soon wind & rain became the norm! Ended up wet through after completing the St Johns Vale skyline.

Elaine Evans hiked Clough Head on May 20th, 2016 [from/via/route] From High Row via the old coach road to Mariel Bridge, then alongside the stream, heading towards Calfhow Pike, turning right at the end of the fence to ascend Clough Head. [with] Sue and Christine [weather] Rain soon after we set out, cleared to leave a day of sunshine & cloud but a cold wind was present for most of the day. - Long grassy slopes to reach the summit. Returned to car via Great Dodd.

Colin Egan summited Clough Head on April 21st, 2016 [from/via/route] Ascent from Legburthwaite car park, around the back of Castle Crag, then direct up fell to Calfhow Pike then along ridge to summit of Clough Head [with] My wife Faith [weather] Warm & sunny, light winds - Car park had signs on it saying all the permissive paths at Thirlmere were closed, the effects of Storm Desmond rumbles on!! Castle Crag is also closed to climbers as it has a large crack at the back & there are fears that a bungalow sized lump will fall off!
