Wild Cattle on The West Mendip Way
My then partner and I were pursued by some very wild looking bullocks up beyond Shipham in Somerset.

I was brought up in The Cotswolds and have always enjoyed the countryside, and, indeed, worked on farms. I have never seen cattle behave like this.

We took to our heels and made it over the gate, just as thirty cattle arrived at speed, to bid us farewell.

The local farmers assured me it was the dog's fault, though he was on a lead, and thinks he is human anyway.

Other friends of mine, in the farming community, ascribed it to circumstances in the beef industry since BSE, which means that farmers are hanging on to their calves longer.

Essentially, these farmers are keeping young bulls in fields with paths running through them. They should be expropriated and sent to re-education camps!!
