The Afon Rhaeadr-fawr tumbles uninterrupted for 130ft over an outcrop of rock called granophyre (rare in Snowdonia). In Welsh Rhaeadr fawr simply means 'Big Waterfall'.

Gwenllian of Wales (June 1282 - 7 June, 1337) was the only child of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, the last native Prince of Wales. After a long campaign by the Princess Gwenllian Society, the OS agreed to use the dual name Carnedd Gwenllian/Carnedd Uchaf on it's maps from 2010 onwards.

The summit of Foel Grach is marked by a cairn & a bothy.
Completing this walk will also take you to the top of Foel-fras (Carneddau) at 942m (3091ft). Foel-fras (Carneddau) is classified as a Welsh Mountain (Hewitt) (11th highest in Wales, 14th highest in England & Wales)
Foel-fras (Carneddau) is also known as a Welsh Nuttall (12th highest in Wales, 16th highest in England & Wales). Foel-fras (Carneddau) means 'Prominent Bare Hill' in Welsh. The summit of Foel-fras (Carneddau) is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point.
You will also reach the summit of Carnedd Gwenllian (Carnedd Uchaf) at 926m (3039ft). Carnedd Gwenllian (Carnedd Uchaf) is classified as a Welsh Mountain (Hewitt) (12th highest in Wales, 18th highest in England & Wales)
Carnedd Gwenllian (Carnedd Uchaf) is also known as a Welsh Nuttall (13th highest in Wales, 20th highest in England & Wales). Carnedd Gwenllian (Carnedd Uchaf) means 'Gwenllain's Cairn (High Cairn)' in Welsh. The summit of Carnedd Gwenllian (Carnedd Uchaf) is marked by a rocky outcrop. Carnedd Gwenllian was formerly known as Carnedd Uchaf (in 2009) and as Garnedd Uchaf prior to that.
