I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Esher.
My Message: Hi fellow walkers, I am a fit female walker with increasingly more time at weekends to pursue my passion of hill walking and long distance paths now that the kids are independent! I took up walking over 10 years ago when the old knees starting to creak from too much running and love it - rain or shine. I mostly walk on my own, as few of my mates have the time or inclination for a long day. Recently did the 3 Peaks (just under the 24 hours) and enjoyed Snowdon so much I went back the following weekend to do the 'Horseshoe'. South West Coast is a favourite Long Distance Path and I would like to tackle many more. Enough chat, I would love to meet up with fellow walkers for some company and an excuse to stop and have a beer at the end of a walk. Angie

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Preston.
My Message: Hiya all, I'm Paul and am starting walking again, I live in
Preston and would like to share the views round the corner or over the tops with a lady who enjoys the same delights.
I am a member of the YHA but don't use it so much as I should, also I enjoy the occassional night 'fair weather camping'.
I am easy going so will go on a variety of walk grades,
including the easier short ones as we all have had to work our way along to the longer ones, so if you dont feel too confident about directions and we ended up on de-tours, its just another path to the same destination!
Maybe also round off the day with something to eat and a drink in a country pub, If you feel we will get along with this idea, then drop me a note, who knows notes may pass to each other!! Meanwhile enjoy the days and walks, in all weathers,
happy walking,
Paul x

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Hereford.
My Message: Hi, I'm looking for m/f walking pals to help me widen my horizons and be more adventurous. I only got into walking a couple of years ago when I was trying to get fit enough to do the Inca Trail (hardest thing I ever did but so worth the effort). My problem is I've a lousy sense of direction and never learned to read a map so i'm looking for someone who has that skill and might be willing to share their knowledge. If you can overcome the first two hurdles I also have a great sense of humour, love a laugh and a natter but appreciate companionable silence too. Because of the lack of map reading skills I tend to stick to short local walks when it's just me, my Ipod and camera but it seems such a waste when I live 25mins away from the Black Mountains and 45mins from Brecon. I've only checked the boxes for places quite close to me simply because I still work and therefore I don't have unlimited time off but it doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in other places. I've no idea what my level of walking is so I just ticked the first 4 boxes and I've never tried to work out how fast I walk. I just love the exercise, the possibility of finding another breathtaking landscape to photograph and the empty spaces. It's just more enjoyable if you've got a friend to share it with. Would love to hear from anyone who shares the sentiment and is willing to take on the role of map reader until I get the hang of it. Hope to hear from you. Pat

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Darlington.
My Message: Hi everyone, my name is Janet. I really enjoy walking but most of my friends are married and have family commitments so cannot get out and about every weekend with them. It would be great to meet other like minded people to enjoy walks and the outdoors, finishing up at the end of a good walk with some social chat and maybe a drink and a pub meal. During the week is difficult to get any walking in as I work full time. I live in the north east, county durham and would be prepared to travel and take in walks in other areas. I have walked in northumberland, north yorkshire, peak district and the lakes, on the flat and up the hills and dales. I've just come back from the lakes and enjoyed walking and climbing up pike biscoe... i think thats what it was called! If anyone would like to join me or for me to join with you on some of your walks please get in touch. ps... am not a very good map reader but willing to learn. would like to go on a map reading course at some point. happy walking!

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Bradford.
My Message: Hi I'm Sharon, 40, seeking walking companion male 40-48 who doesn't mind showing a rather shy but fun loving lady new horizons. Love walking in the Dales but fed up walking alone and would love to find someone to enjoy the beautiful scenery, good conversation and a few laughs along the way. Need a bit of guidance on new routes as just getting back into walking, been walking often by myself but wary of trying new walks alone in case of misshaps. Free most weekends and find walking the best way to unwind after a hectice week especially if followed by a drink and relaxing by an open fire in a rural pub! Drop me a line if your interested.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Prestatyn.
My Message: Hi, I'm Chris, I am lucky enough to live in North Wales, I work every tuesday in Bangor and like to go for a walk every tuesday evening (darkness, rain, snow etc no real problem. ) I enjoy full on winter conditions and have crampons and all the other gadgets. Typically I will do something like Snowdon via the Watkin path, or by Crib Goch if it's not too windy, although sometimes I will do a more gentle walk such as Drum from Llanfairfechan. I live near Prestatyn and enjoy walking in the Clwydian hills as well. I sometimes walk on other days of the week although I am not fond of Sundays due to the crowds, I work every Saturday so cannot go out then. It seems obligatory to mention map reading skills at this point, I have to confess to being quite proficient with map and compass although I have recently started to carry a GPS, which I find very useful in the dark in thick fog.
I usually go alone although, rarely, I am able to go with friends. I'd like to meet walking companions who can contribute to interesting conversation and who enjoy a drink at the Vaynol or Bryn Tyrch afterwards (unless they are closed when we get there. )
I like to go at a slow, steady, meditative pace but am quite fit despite being of heavier build than the stick insects which seem to populate the hills nowadays!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 30s, based near Blackburn.
My Message: Hello, I'm 32 years old and have relatively recently found my feet. I get out as often as I can (2-3 times per week) and am enjoying every minute (almost!)
I'm limited in terms of people to walk with as my time off is often mid week. It would be nice to have some company and I would love to do some more adventurous walks than I can safely do my own - not forgetting that the pint at the end tastes far better with company. So, if you are an experienced walker, a relative novice or somewhere inbetween feel free to get in touch.
Despite my inexperience I have bags of determination and big ambitions!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near York.
My Message: Hi I'm a 40 something male, looking for some companions to go walking in the Lakes, Peaks and Yorkshire areas. I live in the Howardian Hills area of North Yorkshire, so the moors are on my doorstep and I have walked in many areas around here. Unfortunately my family don't really share my enthusiasm for walking so I tend to pack a rucksack on 1 day of the weekend to escape on my own. Would rather have a bit of company along the way and thats where you come in ! I'm planning to do all the Wainwrights before i'm 50, so I am looking to be in the Lakes on a reasonably regular basis in the next 7 years, failing that some day trips to other areas like the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales etc. would be good. I'm easy to get on with, strong enough on nav skills not to get lost too often and can tackle anything from a flat 3-5 miler to a full days hike of several peaks. All walks planned with a pint at the end ! Let me know if you are interested in joining me!

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Dunblane.
My Message: Hi,
My name is Hazel. I am very new to walking but reasonably fit and keen to raise my fitness level and to find my way around the lovely area I live in as well as discover other areas which appeal to me. I currently work full-time so mostly weekends but I can get occasional week days off without too much notice or fuss. Enjoy my own company but find walking alone just a little too lonely and would love to find a companion to walk with and to share the experience, the scenery and some lovely coffee/cake/lunch etc. after our walk.
I generally find that I take a little longer than most to complete walks. Thats not because I am flagging... usually just because I like to look around me at the view. So if you like to breath the air, look around, not clock-watch (and eat cake) please do get in touch.
Hazel

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Cambridge.
My Message: My name is John and I'm an accountant (not my fault!). I recently discovered that walking up mountains is great exercise and a total detox for a stressed mind, so I like to do it when I can, especially in the Lakes and Scotland. Unfortunately I live near Cambridge - so I can commute easily into the City - but it's so not hilly around here, plus I appreciate company as I find hiking on my own a bit lonely. Fortunately my job is fairly random and I can get away for days at a time, working on my laptop if need be, to hike and explore. I'm looking for someone to share the experience, the grandeur, the isolation, the views, of being in a wonderful landscape. But safe in the expectation of a civilised shower, meal and comfy bed at the end of the day. I am NOT a camper!
I can navigate quite confidently and I can lead or follow, if required, but much prefer to travel by consensus (as I get all the leading and following I can cope with at work). I can do day trips out-and-back, or linear trips if the accommodation is booked ahead. I'm not too ambitious; definitely a walker with a bit of scrambling in me, NOT a dedicated rock climber and no desire to be one as I find heights scary - did Striding Edge in May, clinging to the rock - but my confidence is improving.
So I'm hoping to find a walking companion, based either in the South, who can share the driving, or in the North/Scotland, to meet up with. Please contact me if you want to make a friend and share some great walks.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Birmingham.
My Message: Hello, I'm Isobel
I've been walking for the last 2 years with my local Ramblers group in and around the West Midlands. While I've enjoyed these walks, I want to be more adventurous and try Snowdonia, The Lake District and The South West Coast Path (I'm sure there will be more places I want to walk once I make the transition). I can map read and use a compass and have lead walks for the Ramblers. I prefer walking in Autumn, Winter and Spring as I like the cooler temperatures. Don't mind camping but prefer hostelling (am a YHA Member). I can walk at weekends and during the school holidays. If you've got experience of the type of walking I want to explore, would you like to share it with me and join me on my journey to fulfill my walking aspirations? Thanks!

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near London.
My Message: I am now retired and have more time to enjoy walking. In the past few years I have walked the West Highland Way, Great Glen, part of the Coast to Coast but also enjoy walking locally. I don't like walking in large groups and most of my friends consider two miles excessive so I am looking for a walking buddy to walk with on a regular basis around the London area and then perhaps expanding to further afield. I enjoy walking anywhere, beach, hills, woods country and even urban walks and would like someone to chat with and if they have map-reading skills that would be a bonus! I have well behaved collie-cross who likes to accompany me if the walk is suitable.
