I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Cardiff.

My Message: I work in an office and go everywhere by car. I desperately need exercise and to get fit. Used to love walking and the feel-good factor that comes with being out in the fresh air looking at beautiful scenery. I have marked walks 1 and 2 as my fitness level is poor
and is something I need to work on! However I have to start somewhere. It would be nice to have company whilst walking.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Manchester.

My Message: Hi. I'm looking for a walking companion, male or female as I either walk on my own or in a group. I like to stop, take breath, 'admire the view' and feel the breeze in my face with shared quiet enjoyment as well as having a natter and laugh along the way with a picnic or pub/cuppa at the end. I did a long multiday hike a couple of years ago but fitness has dropped and would like to build it up again. Saturdays/Sundays or the ocassional midweeker would suit me and I don't mind travelling.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Lancaster.

My Message: Hi, I am a keen walker happy to do most low level and more strenuous walks. I have a 15 month old labrador who has got me walking and exploring areas that I haven't previously visited. The pup is now old enough to do longer walks and I am hoping to expand on the areas that I walk. I have recently bought the OS explorer maps for all the surrounding areas of Lancaster and would be happy to have company on my walks or join other people or groups on their walks.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Lichfield.

My Message: Hi, I moved down to the Worcester area last year and would like to meet female walkers for walks in this general area or further afield, I don’t mind travelling to meet up or to explore new areas. I am reasonably fit and enjoy getting out and about discovering new places by finding walks off the beaten track, not to bad with maps!
I am semi retired and can meet up during the week or weekends.
Enjoy the countryside and will walk anything up to 10 to 12 miles but happy with shorter strolls as well. It is always more enjoyable with good company to have a chat with and the obligatory drink in the local pub afterwards (or en route!).
Hope to hear from you soon. John

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Preston.

My Message: Hi, I'm Jo recently single and looking for someone/a group of like minded walkers male or female. I have 2 dogs so prefer those who are doggie types! Just love getting out into the countryside, fresh air and open spaces. Walk every day with my dogs, short walks in the evenings and longer at the weekends. Have done a few climbs but if I'm honest I love ambling around flats, particularly near water (my dogs love it!) Let me know if you're interested in joining me.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Eccles.

My Message: I currently organise walks for a small group of friends based in Manchester on a Sunday. We're a mixed gender group ranging in age from 40 to 50 (unless my nephew joins us and he brings the average age right down!). We generally tackle fairly easy rambles, usually involving a pub at some point. We enjoy the exercise but also love the conversations, which can range from politics to the X-Factor, depending on how high-brow we're feeling!
We're mostly single but we're not against married people joining us, as long as they don't hold hands the whole time (and yes, there are some people who manage that on a walk!). We're trying to build up our stamina over the winter so that we can tackle some longer, more challenging walks in the summer. We're never going to walk the Three Peaks in 24 hours (so we're probably not the group for the super fit among you) but doing a single hill/mountain in a day would be sufficiently enjoyable for us and I'm sure for many similar walkers.
We all enjoy the outdoors and go walking for the scenery, the companionship and the charming pubs (although there seems to be far fewer of them around).
We've a few walks planned over Christmas - nothing strenuous, fairly flat walks around Cheshire of about 9 miles if anyone's interested. Then we'll settle into a routine of a Sunday walk probably twice a month.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Leigh.

My Message: Spent the last 4 years touring UK in motorhome hill walking but now settled in Leigh (Wigan-Bolton). Looking for local walking friends and perhaps holiday walking friends as will still be holidaying around UK from motorhome.
Prefor 7-10 mile walks and generally prefer hills though decidely a 'plodder' up hills now. Rambles OK as well, and shorter walks if local friend.
Any age/gender welcome if compatible walker.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Doncaster.

My Message: Hi everyone. After reading all the other Go 4 A Walk members it would seem most are prepared to walk any where in the UK. I must say I might seem fairly boring but the Yorkshire coast line, the hills and valleys of the white and dark peaks of Derbyshire and the Yorkshire Dales and wolds provide enough inspiration and views to relax the most stressfull parts of our lives. I am happy to walk 6 miles with a chat or 24 miles with aching knees. Kinder Scout under 6 feet of snow is brill. send me a message and stay near home in our wonderfull countryside

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Minehead.

My Message: Hi, my name is Alan, in the summer of 2009 I walked the whole 630 miles of the southwest coast path in one go backpacking, camping most nights I rate this as the most enjoyable experience of my life, on that occasion the walk was completed alone which I was very happy with as this meant I met some wonderful people along the way, since returning there’s only been one thing on my mind to do it again, but this time would like to get a few like minded males, females, together to share this extraordinary experience with. It took me 7 weeks to complete I think this amount of time is about right as this allowed some rest days believe me you will need them I'm not going to pretend this was easy its not but with a bit of training and the right equipment most walkers could do it I would imagine that time is the biggest barrier for most. One thing I can guarantee is your have the best time of your life, I would be happy to give some advice on training and equipment. So is anyone up for an adventure!! a challenge!! if so mail me!!

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Tewkesbury.

My Message: Well, I am up for just about anything with anyone. Young/old, male/female, etc etc. It's not that I'm not fussy, but I enjoy meeting and finding about new people, although finding a regular glutten for punishment would be good. I enjoy a good laugh and a chat, but equally happy just enjoying sharing the scenery in ' companiable solitude' - not sure where that one came from!!
My usual partners circumstances have changed - baby, moved away, and the other one, well she found herself a man.
I am confident with navigation, enjoy grade 1 scrambles -although I used to climb to a good standard and fancy taking on a bit more, although I have no kit now.
I am currently looking for work so have a reasonable amount of flexibility of when and how long I go for, subject to getting a pass from 'she who must be obeyed'! But not a problem.
I am up for wild camping - but prefer bunk houses/bothys this trime of year.

Would love to have a bit of a challenge in winter conditions, if someone is happy to share their knowledge, I am prepared to invest in more winter kit.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Southampton.

My Message: Hi, I have always enjoyed walking and would like to get back into it and build up my fitness with a view to walking/trecking abroad at some time, hopefully somewher high and dramatic! I don't enjoy walking totally alone but do enjoy walking, chatting and the opportunity to be alone (with others), drinking in the atmosphere and scenery. I am happy to walk with singles, small groups, both males and females. I am able to walk at weekends and in the school holidays. Very happy to combine walk with a drink or lunch at a nice country pub. If you think I may be a suitable walking-mate for you please contact me.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Nelson.

My Message: Hi all.
I'm really a novice walker but, having said that I find myself in the postion of having walked in lancs, mainly pendle areas, also, Sapa - Vietnam, New Zealand, Dublin mountains, et al.
I really am looking for interested walking companions who probably have more experience/ confidence than me. I was diagnosed with asthma in January. I'm now managing it really well, but am quite aware that others find it frustrating. I guess I'm looking for someone who would be patient enough when I get out of breath, but also, probably, put up with me being quite feisty at times. Bit of a handful eh!

My Message: Yorkshire based single male would like to meet genuine single female for 7-14mile walks some hills, particular Peak District, Yorkshie Dales, North Yorkshire and Lake District. Not into large group walks.. tried it !. Even better to arrange weekends away in BandB not under canvas!
Equally happy to walk in the countryside or by the coast, just as happy with a flat or hilly terrain.
Also enjoy a bike ride. Then to finish off with a drink and a bite to eat.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near Preston.

My Message: Hi all, I'm Mark a 41 year old guy who loves walking up in the Lake District. Looking for a walking partner (preferably female) who shares similar interests (I do prefer walks that involve uphill rather than just flat). That said, I'm not going to route march you up to the top in the quickest possible time !

My other half just isn't interested in the mountains and fells, so I tend to do a lot of walking on my own at the moment, but would be nice to have someone to share it with (plus you do get some funny looks from people if you start talking to yourself on a walk !!!)

I live in lancashire and try to get up to Cumbria every other week (usually on a Sunday) - a busy schedule kind of dictates I walk on a Sunday !

If you'd like to know more or would like to arrange a walk somewhere, drop me a line.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Burnley.

My Message: Hi my name is Ian I am a 47 year old single male who lives near Burnley and is reasonably fit with a liking for the outdoors whether that be walking, conservation work, tending my garden or various other activities. I do most of my walking in Lancashire (Ribble Valley, Pendle and Silverdale areas) The Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. I have also completed a third of the Pembrokeshire coastal path and would like to finish it someday. I prefer to take my time and look at the view and the flora and fauna when I am out and not dash up a mountain because it is there. Having said that I have been known to go up the odd hill when I feel like it. At the end of a walk I like to find a nice tea shop for tea and cake, as I don’t drink or smoke pubs are not for me, unless food is involved then that’s a different matter as I enjoy going out for meals.
I am looking for a lady of a similar age who does not smoke and is within a reasonable distance of me that would like to join me on my walks and possibly other days out.
