I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Wigton.

My Message: Hi... Carole here. I live about 10 miles from Keswick and have done for the last 17yrs. Its always the way, isn't it, when you live next to something you hardly ever use it!
But that's about to change. Starting to build up my fitness (nothing over a grade 4 so far). Love to be out on my own with the dog... but would be nice to have company now and again, particularly for any trickier routes... not too confident in my way-finding skills as yet.
And the pint at the pub after is always better shared... :-)

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Liverpool.

My Message: Hi, Im Chris
Hoping to re-new a love of walking which started 20 years ago in the Lake District. I have enjoyed some Fell walking, river valley walks, coastal and woodland walks. Love our own green and pleasant land, but would also like to explore further afield. Still working full time, hence the need to get out into the fresh air, away from the stresses of a busy job. Need also to build my stamina again!Have done a lot of camping in the past, and like being out on my bike. Hope to hear from some like minded people! Thanks for reading this message.

I am a Walker, in my mid 30s, based near Barnard Castle.

My Message: Hiya... I’m Jon…

I'm an easy-going, well-travelled guy who has in the course of the last year rediscovered my love of walking/hiking in our great outdoors. It's also been great to regain some fitness that had begun to wane over time.

Currently I tend to look for mid-level walks as I build up my stamina - and try to not stop for as many breathers on those pesky uphill sections :p
My normal walking companion has been an Energizer-powered Lab :) but it would be great to also have a female hike buddy to talk to, lean on and share good days out with.

In terms of myself, somehow I seem to have ended up in my mid-30's over the last few years, but would be very comfortable with anyone from their mid-20's to early 40's.
I am based in Teesdale in Co. Durham so it gives me great access to quite a few areas and I have no problems jumping in the car for an hour to get to a great walk.
I tend to go out on Mondays and/or Tuesdays due to my slightly weird shift pattern - although of course holiday weeks give me more flexibility.

If you would like to know anything else just drop me a line and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Jon

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Newcastle.

My Message: Hello, I am female, 53, keen to develop a walking habit and widen my circle of like-minded friends. No ties, I'm free most weekends and occasionally a weekday. It would be great to share some walks. I'm hoping a walking partner will encourage me to get out in the fresh air more than I do at the moment. I currently do swimming and yoga. I'm happy to explore more of my county, I live on the Northumberland coastline, and further afield - there's so much beautiful countryside to appreciate in the neighbouring counties, and some good pubs too!
Please do get in touch if you have the time and the inclination. Hilary

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Leeds.

My Message: Hello I'm Caroline, and I'm looking for male and female friends of all ages to go walking with. Over the years I've been on a few trekking holidays abroad, but I'm now keen to make walking a more regular part of my life instead of a 2/3 times a year treat. I'm reasonably fit so I'm happy to walk at various levels, from an evening wander while the nights are still light to an 8am start on a Saturday morning to make the most of the weekend. As much as the walking I just love getting outdoors, but I'd much rather be out with company.
Apart from a charity climb of Snowdon in March and four days on the Pennine Way over Easter I haven't explored many routes, but I did buy a couple of walking books about a year ago and it would be great to finally open them and use them. I've decided to do the Coast-to-Coast sometime in the next twelve months, and it's at least fifteen years since I last did the Three Peaks.
It's probably worth mentioning I currently work Monday to Friday 9 to 5, so I have to work around that. I'm a driver so I'm happy to travel within reason, the desired areas I ticked are not set in stone I just thought it better to tick something. However, I can also see the benefits of public transport so we can reward ourselves with a big glass of wine or pint of ale at the end of our day.
Please get in touch if you would like to meet up.

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near North Yorkshire.

My Message: Hello fellow walkers!
I'm looking to meet new walking friends, male or female, any age, for walks either in my local area of North Yorkshire, or further afield. The Lakes, the Peak District, and Northumberland are all within easy travelling distance. I'm 49 and I'm just getting back to fitness after an injury, so I'm really looking forward to getting out in the hills regularly again. I am a warm, friendly person, and like nothing better than walking with good company, having a chat and a laugh along the way, and a few drinks at the end of the day. My favourite walk is probably Coniston Old Man, I loved every minute of it! The views are jaw dropping, and I like the history of the area, I somehow think that its copper mining past adds, rather than detracts from the landscape. I like any kind of walking though, from snowy forest walks to coastal paths and mountains. My map reading skills are not great however, despite having done a map reading course :-) I now have a hand held gps, so I'm not wandering around in the hills come midnight! It would be lovely to make some new walking friends, so if there is anyone out there who would like to meet up, please drop me a line x

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Farnham.

My Message: Hi, I'm a 54 year old female based near Farnham, looking for male/female company for more regular walking in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Dorest. Local walking groups are rather large and I prefer more one to one conversation, probably a faster pace too. I tend to use pre planned walks as I'm not the best map reader - happy to learn from an expert though! Available to walk at least every other weekend, and occasionally in the week, especially during summer months while the evenings are lighter. I'm reasonably fit (Gym and cycle) and happy to walk 8-10 miles or more. Love walking holidays uk or abroad, walked Hadrian's Wall two years ago. Would love to meet more liked minded people to share the beauty of uk countryside. Pub stops are equally important but I'm not adverse to the odd picnic! I look forward to hearing from you!

I am a Walker, in my late 30s, based near Cambridge.

My Message: Hi, I'm 37, based in Cambridge and looking for opportunity to go see some mountains, lakes and landscapes again (if you know Cambridge, its easy to miss the simple things like hills). My ideal walk would be 5 hours in the lake district, followed by slumping in a pub in front of the fire. Looking someone similarly minded to share some laughs with. I have my own transport and happy to share lifts from the Cambridge / London area.

I am a Walker, in my late 20s, based near Near Hexham.

My Message: Hi, I'm reasonably new to the Northumberland area (North Yorkshire born and bred) and would love to meet some like minded people, male and female, to walk with. I'm a (PE) teacher so mostly have Sundays and school holidays free to walk/hike/camp. I love the Lake District and have grown up in the North York Moors and Dales, I'm happy to travel and my walks always include food and drink! Unfortunately most of my friends are now married and have different priorities, so I'm therefore looking for new friends to share lovely days out and also the map reading as I have a tendency to get lost! Friends must not mind dogs as a have a new gorgeous cocker spaniel puppy arriving soon! Look forward to hearing from people!

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Cardiff.

My Message: Hello out there, my name is Mike, I’m aged 56 and three quarters, have my own teeth and many original fittings. I’m looking for someone to share walks of all kinds but especially in the hills. I’ve been a walker for over 40 years and despite some dodgy knees and a slipped disc I can still manage a long day out, enjoy some light scrambling and I can use a map and compass. I usually walk solo but would enjoy some company now and again and at the end of the day perhaps a pie and a pint, or a cassoulet and claret, or a toastie and a cup of tea. Hopefully a walking partner will encourage me to get out more than I manage at the moment. I work full-time but can manage an occasional week day as well as weekends. I will be in the Lake District (staying near Patterdale) from 20-27 May and the Highlands (in Glen Nevis) from 10-17 June if anyone can manage it; short notice I know.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Malvern.

My Message: Slim, fit, cheerful and unconventional Worcestershire man with old cottage on Malvern Hills (ideal walking centre) seeks female companion for all kinds of low-budget walking adventures, long or short, anywhere in UK, from wild camping or bothying in the moors and mountains to finding geocaches along shores, canals and riverside paths. Possible cycle trips too (I have a Brompton folding bike). I'm a life member of both English Heritage and the YHA. Also like NT properties, morris dancing, ceilidhs, railways, board games and card games. Modest income from my publications about castles, churches, abbeys, ancient monuments and walking trails. My interests complement each other without dividing lines between work and leisure activities. Good navigator with 1:50, 000 maps for almost all of Britain Isles. National Trails still to do include Cotswold Way, South Downs Way, Pennine Bridleway and southern section of SW coast path. I’m a carnivore, don’t drink much alcohol, don’t smoke and don’t own a car. I’m not tall, and not a particularly fast walker or cyclist.
August 2012 update: companion(s) wanted for backpacking trips Sept-Oct 2012 to include Northumbrian coastal castles, central section of Offa's Dyke Path, & maybe Devon & Dorset.

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Chorley.

My Message: Hi
I'm i guess a keen walker, did the Pennine Way last August, which was amazing, looking to do something similar this summer too.
I Spend much of my walking time in the lakes, dales, or peaks or snowdonia, but really want to take a couple of weekends in scotland to experience some of the walking on offer up there.
I like a little bit of scrambling and would like to develop this. I've done strinding and sharp edge and loved them both (sharp i found a bit more exposed at one point!)
I have also some wild camping which i really want to do some more of, i think it would be more fun with company mind you!
I pretty limited to weekends, evenings i guess and friday afternoons. Drop me a line with your ideas, I'm thinking of the Ravenber Way this summer, 200 miles from Ravensglass to Berwick, not as far as the Pennine Way this time, fancy joining me?!

Mark
