- Musselburgh to North Berwick via the Firth of Forth to the North;
- North Berwick to Berwick-upon-Tweed via the North Sea to the North East
- Berwick-upon-Tweed to Hawick via the border between Scotland & England to Coldstream, the River Tweed to Kelso and then the River Teviot to Hawick via Ancrum and Denholm to the South East
- Hawick to Musselburgh via the A7, Selkirk, Galashiels, Stow and Gorebridge to the West
