"Hi, Please find attached pic of myself Paul Baldry (with Max the Dog), Jenny Baldry, Tom Evans and Martin Brown on top of Ingleborough on our 3 Peaks Challenge for Cash 4 Kids Charity for which we have raised over £1500. We completed all three in 11 Hours, a very tiring but fulfilling day and a day we'll remember for a long time. P.S fantastic site, as we used your very detailed map and data for my GPS. Many thanks"

Paul Baldry

"The attached photos were taken during a couple of weeks at the end of May and the beginning of June. The walks I followed were as follows:

c251 The Mardale Head Horizon from Mardale Head ,

c212 Burnbank Fell, Gavel Fell, Hen Comb and Mellbreak from Loweswater
(By the way, the scree on Mellbreak was very loose due to the dry weather making a difficult descent),

c345 Knott Rigg and Ard Crags from Little Town ,

c201 Ashness Bridge and Walla Crag from Keswick ,

c275 Darling Fell, Low Fell and Fellbarrow from Loweswater  and

c408 Grisedale Pike and Causey Pike from Braithwaite .

Great directions as usual. Thanks again."

Christine Shepherd

"Here are some photos I took whilst out walking in the Peak District. I hope they get people wanting to get their boots on and 'Go for a walk'. Regards"

Phillip Martin

"Hi On the 30 May 2010 we walked up Longridge Fell in Lancashire (l126 Longridge Fell (Spire Hill) from Jeffrey Hill ). It was lovely until we crossed the road opposite Weedacre Farm and entered a field. The uphill 'path' was overgrown with gorse and underfoot was positively swampy. I recommend wearing gaiters and taking a walking stick both for testing the depth of the boggy ground and to fight your way through the gorse (or perhaps a pair of shears!!). The rest of the walk was great. Regards"

Ally Davies

"Terrific website jammed pack full of information that is easy to find. Thanks alot."

" I just wanted to say what a lovely and interesting walk [d173 Chelmorton from Wye Dale, The Peak District National Park] was. We went as a New Years day walk 2010. The route was well discribed and had some nice views. As for the Pub (The Church Inn, Chelmorton) it was well worth the trip. Very welcoming staff and good homecooked food. Excellent. Thank you "

" I am just writing to say Thank You. I have just finished walking the highest 100 Wainwrights. Most of these were completed with walks from your wonderful site. As I am usually a lone walker the clear directions and compass references are really reassuring and have kept me on track even in mist and hailstorms (as I found myself in on my way up Seatallan this weekend). A tip that other walkers may find useful is to print off two copies of the route and put one in the windscreen of the car with a ETA and an emergency contact number. Thanks again. I will continue to walk the Wainwrights with go4awalk (about 60 to go). "

Christine Shepherd, Leeds

" Hi GFAW, Thank you for all of your hard work - I'm so glad I had your notes and waypoints with me at the weekend [for walk c128 The Hayswater Round from Hartsop ] - rain, low cloud, gale force gusts, and coming off in the dark all made for a very interesting run (I didn't start it until 2pm and so decided to run it for as much as I could and managed to get back to the start point at 5:30pm!). At [waypoint] c128-C the wind was blowing so hard that as I was crossing the footbridge by the dam that there were waves of spray being blown off the lake all over me - it was all worth it though:-) Kind regards, Matt "

Matt Jeoffroy, Walton-on-Thames

" Just wanted to say thanks for this walk (d296 Jacob's Ladder and Kinder Scout from Edale ), I gather its a popular route but for newish walkers this was great for us. Turns out one of our patry had walked it 20 years ago so for him (a heart bypass patient) it was quite poignant. Our two kids loved clambering on Noes Stool and Pym chair and just when we thought it was all over, the icing on the cake, a scramble down Grinsbrook Clough!! fabulous. Thanks again, PS hope to post some clips on Youtube shortly, look for 'naffusername' "

" I think that your site and your routes are great, and they have opened up the whole of the countryside for me and my friends. On Cadair Idris the weather closed right in at the summit and I mistakenly pointed our group down the wrong track with my trusty compass. After getting back to the trig point I managed to avert a mutiny by backing up my second compass reading with the GPS route data that you had included (and in fact used this to get us safely down - the path is quite faint especially in the mist!), so thank you for that.

I hope my comments help. Keep up the fab work!! Kind regards, "

" Sir/Madam, Having just completed d102 Burbage, Burbage Edge and Goyt's Moss from Errwood Reservoir, The Goyt Valley , I would 1st like to comment on the accuracy of the walk description, I could not fault the route description at all. However, the note on the walk on how to get there, mentions the Macclesfield to Buxton road, take the turning to 'Derbyshire Bridge', this road is one way in a southerly direction from May through September. It appears now that the road is one way all year round, certainly on the 20th January 2007, you could drive no further than Derbyshire Bridge in a Northery direction. We had to park at Derbyshire Bridge and start/finish the walk from there, this was no problem, just added approx 1 mile to the walk. Otherwise well done to all who gave the walk route. Many Thanks "

Michael Finch, Northampton, Jan

" Just wanted to let you know that on the day I left for the UK, prior to my solo walk of the Pennine Way in October 2006, I decided to download the GPS waypoints for the Pennine Way. They saved my life. As I climbed to the top of Kinder Plateau, the weather changed in an instant from a beautiful fall day to 40 knot winds, sheets of rain, and mist and fog which limited my visibility to ten meters. Map and compass were useless and I quickly became lost. My GPS allowed me to get a bearing on the Kinder Downfall, hidden in the fog. The stream was so swollen and fast moving it took me a half hour to cross.

Later the same day, I also became hopelessly lost on Bleaklow, and again, your GPS waypoint delivered me from that morass of streams and channels. Sincerely, "

Greg Leck, Bangor, Pennsylvania, USA Jan

"This site is excellent - just what walkers need."

Patricia Colman

"The site is looking great! Extremely professional. I go into it when I receive a newsletter from you and it seems to look better and more interactive each time."

Derek Gardner

"Great site - some excellent walks - well done."

Geoff Cheshire

"I have just subscribed to your site and am very pleased"

Ray Castell

"Your website is superb, and in terms of planning walks is becoming almost as indispensable as the 7 volumes of the gospel according to St Wainwright."

Martin Price

"Love the downloadable walks,"

Liz Sharpley

"I am very impressed by our route guides . . . the instructions in general are excellent and contain exactly the right level of detail . . . I shall recommend it to all my walking friends. A great advantage your site must have over books, (is) that you can keep the information fresh and up to date. Great value at £14.95 for a year too!"

Dr Bob Baldock

"I've just happened to chance upon your site, and I think its great. I really like the inclusion of a Welsh language pronunciation guide and as a non-welsh speaking taff myself I'll find it very useful!"

Brian Wilkinson

"Wow, brilliant! Thanks very much - I'm amazed!"

Leah Grayson

". . . a great web site and the walks that I have done have been good. Definitely a worthwhile subscription."

Keith Brill

" ... be sure to visit this site of maps and routes of some of the most entertaining walks, region by region, in England, Scotland and Wales ...."

The Independent on Sunday

"I have just discovered your site and I must say I'm very impressed. I found it easy to use and the walk maps and descriptions seem to be almost idiot proof."

Phil Goodman, Bolsover, Derbyshire

"The fabulous go4awalk site should be as essential a preparation for the great outdoors as packing a map."

The Sunday Times 'Doors' Magazine

"Thank you for producing this site. Clear and well-organised. Just what I have been looking for. I have just followed one of your walks, c165, and am very pleased with the clear directions and sketch map."

Ian Wride, Southport, Merseyside

". . . excellent web site for any of you who want to go for a walk this weekend - be it in the Lakes or anywhere else"

Stuart Maconie, BBC Radio 2

"After looking around the internet for some time to find sites for walking, I stumbled onto your site from another, and WOW! The whole site is excellent, but I'm hooked to the walks page. There is now a real battle in my family for the computer because "Dad's looking at maps again" (sorry kids!). I now have the site set up as my home page on my works laptop so I can spread the word further"

Bob Jack, Sunny(!) Warrington, Cheshire

"Don't leave home without it."

The Net Magazine, Sept

"I think your site is great having moved to the area and not knowing a lot about The Yorkshire Dales. go4awalk.com has given me some fantastic walking ideas. Thank you very much"

James Wetherell, Otley, West Yorkshire, Sept

".. offers the visitor a superb variety of up-to-date walking routes throughout the UK."

Computer Active Web Guide, Winter

"I have just found your site and I think its Brilliant. I'm tickled pink to find Staffordshire amongst those areas already mapped. We are usually by-passed because Derbyshire, (our neighbouring county) has got such wonderful countryside. But Staffordshire also has lots to offer and it's great to see Staffs up there with the rest. Thank you for such an interesting site. I look forward to visiting again and again."

Beverley Dawson, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
