Walk Leader and Mountain Leader Training
Q. Could you tell me how I could gain my qualification as a Walking Leader please?
Many thanks,
Elizabeth Robertson
A. You need to complete a Walking Group Leader (WGL) or Mountain Leader (ML) course that meets the standards laid down by The UK Mountain Leader Training Board. These courses are usually residential and last between 3 and 4 days and operators running courses can be found easily on the internet using Google.
NB. To get on a course - you must first be able to demonstrate your experience walking in the hills and mountains in the form of a walking log containing at least 20 quality mountain/hill walking days. (Twenty days experience is the absolute minimum - if you only have 20 days quality days in your log - they will almost certainly tell you to go and do some more).
Hope this helps
