Bramhall to Lyme Park Path
Q. Does anyone know the details of a trail that goes through Bramhall Park, Cheshire to Lyme Park, Cheshire?
I think it starts in the Lady Brook Valley and I believe that it goes through Gately, Cheadle & Bramhall before reaching Lyme Park.
I'd be very interested to know if anyone knows anything. I can't find details anywhere and the path isn't marked on any maps that I've seen.
Thanks
Phillippa Layton
A. This route is part of the Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail. This runs from Cheadle to Lyme and a booklet should be available from local libraries at £1.50.

A. I live close to Bramhall Park, and there is a continuous pathway between Bramhall Park and Lyme Park.
Starting from Bramhall Park, there is an official leisure walk along the banks of the Lady Brook to Poynton Lake (924848). From here, there is a choice of pathways across half a mile of farmland to Higher Poynton Village. Opposite the pub at 943833 there is a path and bridge across the old railway line and the canal, into Lyme Park.
One of my colleagues used to organise an annual Fell Run along this latter route (from the pub) across Lyme Park to Bowstones, and the footpaths are clearly marked on the OS maps.
If Phillippa doesn't live near the parks, I'll be happy to go and investigate the route for her.

A. Hi Phillippa, get the new Explorer 268 OS map as it now has the full walk on it!
Start (or finish) Northern end of Lyme Park at Bollinhurst Reservoir which is the source of the river/brook.
There is aslo a leaflet available from Stockport Parks dept which WAS £1.50!
Enjoy the walk it brilliant, I did it several weeks ago. Barry.
